Jennifer Sangaroonthong
- Bio
I am Counsel in the Cayman Islands Corporate practice at Conyers, Dill & Pearman LLP. I’ve been working in the jurisdiction since September 2018, and my practice involves:
• Advising clients on a wide range of digital assets, web3 and FinTech transactions including advising on the establishment and maintenance of Cayman Islands foundation companies to assist with the oversight and development of blockchain protocols and digital assets.
• Advising on general corporate and commercial advice during the life cycle of a Cayman Islands entity and has extensive experience in series financing transactions, mergers & acquisitions and fund formation.
• Advising clients on the formation and operation of private funds (both private equity and credit) and the downstream activities undertaken by private funds.
Prior to joining Conyers, I was a senior counsel at Walkers, another leading offshore law firm in the Cayman Islands, where I also acted for global investment managers and high-profile digital asset clients. Before that, I was a corporate M&A lawyer at Buddle Findlay in New Zealand for about 4 years.
Lais Strassburger
- Bio Lais is a digital assets and blockchain consultant at RSM Cayman, where she focuses on strategy, governance, and implementation for clients operating across the Web3 landscape. With a foundation in traditional finance and a forward-looking mindset, she helps bridge the gap between regulated environments and decentralized innovation. Lais brings a unique blend of technical understanding, strategic vision, and a talent for communication to support sustainable growth in the space. She is passionate about fostering long-lasting connections and championing greater representation and diversity across blockchain ecosystems.
- Reason I believe the future of blockchain must be inclusive and purpose-driven. As part of the BACI Women in Blockchain committee, I want to help shape that future—bringing more women into strategic conversations, advocating for practical adoption, and fostering partnerships that matter. I’m especially passionate about expanding our reach beyond the financial sector, exploring ways to inspire and engage women from all backgrounds, and making the space truly inclusive and accessible.
Danielle Pienaar
- Bio Danielle has founded Women in Blockchain Cayman Islands with Fiona Brennan, an initiative they launched in 2023 to create a supportive platform for women to connect, learn, and lead within the blockchain ecosystem. Since its inception, Danielle has been instrumental in growing the Women in Blockchain Cayman community, hosting dozens of events featuring global industry leaders. These events are designed to educate, empower, and promote women's participation in blockchain, DeFi, and emerging technologies, positioning Cayman as an inclusive hub for innovation. In addition to her work with Women in Blockchain, Danielle serves as the Chapter Lead for SheFi, a global educational initiative focused on onboarding women into the decentralized finance (DeFi) space through hands-on learning. She is passionate about collaborating across communities, with plans to bring SheFi and Women in Blockchain Cayman together for joint events, amplifying their collective impact and strengthening the voice of women in the industry. Beyond her community leadership, Danielle is an experienced Independent Director, offering strategic governance services to companies in the blockchain and digital assets sectors. With a background in fiduciary services, governance, and a keen understanding of emerging technologies, she brings valuable insights to boards navigating the rapidly evolving digital landscape. Danielle's work reflects her unwavering dedication to bridging the gender gap in blockchain, fostering a culture of inclusion, and inspiring the next generation of female leaders in Web3
Savannah Netherlands
- Bio I am a South African CA(SA) with a deep passion for blockchain innovation and am currently working at Autonomous supporting blockchain protocols through the full token project lifecycle—from ideation to launch and beyond. Previously, I was part of the Financial Advisory team at Deloitte Cayman Islands where I specialised in blockchain tracing and forensic investigations, working on cases at the intersection of finance and technology. I have lived in the Cayman Islands since January 2022 and have been actively involved in the growing island web3 community since then.
- Reason
I believe I am the ideal candidate for the role of chairperson of WIB due to my extensive experience in the financial services industry as well as my commitment to empowering minority groups, including women.
As an active legal advisor in both traditional funds and the digital assets sector (specifically, in the Cayman Islands since September 2018), I am able to bring my real-world experience and know-how from these complementary industries to the table. My recent participation in a WIB panel discussion on personal investing exemplifies my dedication to sharing expertise and fostering dialogue in the community as well. I’ve also previously volunteered at community law centres in New Zealand and this experience has allowed me to understand the various issues that different people may face depending on their life circumstances.
Throughout my legal career, I have consistently advocated for women's representation and support, organizing women-specific networking events, internal peer/career-support groups and previously hosting sessions at law school to address any barriers to entry and the practicalities of working in the legal industry. I have also always been a big-picture thinker and recognize the importance of including male allies in the conversation and will strive to have an inclusive atmosphere where possible (and appropriate) in order to encourage better representation in the blockchain industry as a whole. Additionally, I have also had many experiences in the past being part of a committee and organising events. I believe these experiences equip me to lead and inspire positive change for WIB.
