Seat Purpose

The Chair will be responsible for leading the committees and guiding the organization. Specific responsibilities include presiding over meetings, having oversight over all sub-committees, ensuring all events are organised, oversight over finances, liaising with government and regulators, outreach with members and potential new members and representing BACI in official capacities.

Petri Basson

• Bio Petri Basson is the Chair of the Blockchain Association of the Cayman Islands (BACI), where he plays a leading role in shaping the regulatory and educational landscape for digital assets in the jurisdiction. He is also the Founder of Hash Directors, serving as an independent director to a range of Cayman-based foundation companies and funds, primarily supporting Web3 and crypto-native projects. Before founding Hash Directors, Petri established and led KPMG’s Digital Asset practice in the Cayman Islands, advising institutional clients on governance, risk, and structuring solutions for blockchain-based ventures. His deep regulatory understanding and hands-on experience across the digital asset ecosystem position him at the forefront of blockchain innovation and governance in Cayman.

• Reason  I’m standing for re-election as Chair of BACI because I believe in the critical role the Cayman Islands can play as a global leader in the digital assets space—and I’m committed to helping us get there. Over the past year as Chair, I’ve worked closely with industry, regulators, and policymakers to ensure BACI remains a credible and constructive voice in shaping the future of blockchain regulation and innovation in Cayman. My experience founding and leading KPMG’s Digital Asset practice here gave me a strong foundation in institutional-grade governance and compliance, and today, as the founder of Hash Directors, I serve as an independent director to a number of Cayman-based foundations and funds at the forefront of Web3. I understand the regulatory and operational challenges our members face because I’m working through them every day alongside our clients. I’m passionate about ensuring our jurisdiction remains competitive, credible, and supportive of innovation. If re-elected, I’ll continue to focus on practical engagement with regulators, promoting Cayman globally, and ensuring our members are informed, heard, and supported.
