Official Vote | 10 Principles of a Good Community

Background

At the beginning of 2024, the Strategy & Infrastructure team discussed true consensus among decentralized communities. As my background is in design, it reminded me of Dieter Rams’ “10 Principles of Good Design.” It is a codex for designers to abide by a certain set of rules to create meaningful products. Dani and I eventually developed the equivalent, calling it “The 10 Principles of a Good Community” as a consensus NFT for the ALANA community. The contract is powered by Unlock Protocol and is a free membership NFT that can be minted by everyone who wants to join ALANA and supports the following ideals:

Benefits

The NFT outlines very clearly what the ALANA community stands for and expects from its members—everyone who voluntarily mints from the contract signs a social agreement on blockchain level.

Timeline and Implementation

Last year, we did a quick poll on Discord (link to the result below) to see if the majority of active contributors agreed, and they did. This Snapshot vote is meant to officialize what was confirmed with the Discord temperature check.
