Richard Prince is a contemporary artist famous for using Appropriation, or the use of pre-existing objects or images with little or no transformation applied to them.

By fractionalizing CloneX #17707 VVD asserted his ownership over the NFT by breaching the TOS by its manufacturer RTFKT. VVD's action reclaims the image from its producer and makes it his own.
