PANews, Jan. 11 -- According to Cointelegraph, Ether co-founder Vitalik Buterin proposed in a recent Reddit "Ask-Me-Anything" (AMA) that in order to increase network throughput, the Ether gas limit by 33% to approximately 40 million. The current gas limit is 30 million.
Buterin noted that the gas limit has not been increased since the longest period in the history of the ethereum protocol, nearly three years. the gas limit is the maximum amount of gas that can be used to execute a transaction or a smart contract in each block. gas is the amount of money it takes to make a transaction or execute a contract on the blockchain. By increasing the gas limit, more transactions can be included in each block, theoretically increasing the overall throughput and capacity of the network. However, this also increases the load on the hardware and the potential risk of network spam and attacks.
