AIFSIP-03: Host a Series of Gatherings

Proposal to authorize a series of events to explore partnership & co-governance possibilities in our network.

Summary

This proposal seeks to authorize All In For Sport's contributors to host a series of gatherings under All In For Sport's brand, for the purpose of sharing knowledge and building connections across our network of projects at the intersection of web3, social impact and sport for good.

Purpose

When innovating, its not always clear as to why or how to forward the work you are exploring. The idea of hosting conversations or what we will call ‘Gatherings’ is simply a way for us to bring together the many great organizations and innovators that we have met over the past two years together. By sharing and learning together we feel that great things can happen.

Issue or Problem

There are many sports based non-profits and groups who independently are doing incredible work around the world. The problem is, they often don’t know that there are others either doing the same kind of work in other sports or are struggling with some of the same problems alone.

We see the power of building a ‘sandbox’ where these groups can come together, share, and explore new ideas together.

Design

We would like to pilot a series of 5 sessions. We would like to invite the groups we have been lucky enough to meet over the past two years and welcome new innovators as well.

So far we have engaged and have interest from:

• The Future of Hockey Lab
• Love Futbol
• READY Sport Global
• Women Win
• Parks Foundation Calgary
• VIVO for Healthier Generations

By beginning a regular series AND having a digital space (Gathertown or Discord) where groups can continue to share and connect after each event, we feel like a true community can be built. After the 5 sessions, we would like to then meet with the groups to hear what they liked along with how we can improve to make it the best experience possible for them.

The outcomes will dictate success and how we move forward.

Momentum

Rather than a financial commitment upfront, this now becomes an invitation for aligned partners to come in and contribute in ways that make the most sense for them. It's participatory, it's learning and sharing, and perhaps it's new ideas that are sparked that the partners can have an opportunity to be a part of.

By creating a ‘sandbox’ it allows for anyone with interest to show up, and see how projects can align with their organizational mandates

Details

If this proposal passes, the following will occur:

• Gatherings will be adopted as an official All In For Sport initiative and authorized to use the All In For Sport brand and DAO spaces for the duration of the 5-event project and related community engagement activities.

  • A "Partnerships & Grants" role will be created within the operations group, and authorized to act on behalf of AIFS within the scope of the Gatherings agreement and our Operating Agreement for the purpose of delivering the Gatherings program.

    • The partnership and grants role will be assigned to the partnerships cell, to be stewarded by Shanny in collaboration with Krause House.
    • The partnerships & grants role will be formalized and proposed to community governance for approval if still in use after 6 months.

  • A "Community Experience" role will be created within the operations group, and authorized to act on behalf of AIFS within the scope of the Gatherings agreement and our Operating Agreement for the purpose of delivering the Gatherings program.

    • The community experience role will be assigned to the community experience cell, to be stewarded in collaboration with SuperBenefit.
    • The community experience role will be formalized and proposed to community governance for approval within 6 months.

• Funding for the Gatherings Program will flow through SuperBenefit's community experience multisig Optimism, to be administered by the Community Experience Stewards.

  • Fiscal stewardship will be provided by the Institute for Community Sustainability and coordinated by Heenal.
