Summary:
- Taking the insights we’ve had over the last 6 months running a DAO and to make amendments to the constitution. Particularly to the Capinet system in the aim to expedite decision making, encourage activity and support MMC’s growth strategy for its second year.
The Pitch:
- Context;
Over the last 6 months we have made some wins as a DAO, however our overall goal as a fully fledged DAO has not yet been achieved. Many times our votes have been administrative in nature.
An earlier study of the vision and values of our community indicated some strategic interests that we had, unfortunately another issue was that many of the ancients simply expected to be spectators to the progress. This stifled any real work that we could do as more than 3/4ths of our Ancient Shrooms have remained inactive.
Further this, Capinets (myself included) have found it difficult to navigate the role for 6 months continuously. While initially very active, we have not delivered on regular AMAs (or if we have, minor attendance) and was not able to establish a new vote last August 2022.
As of writing this proposal we currently have 36/150 (24%) active Ancient Shrooms and 8 Capinets still in post.
Solutions;
The following ideas are presented
- Article 12: Article 8 Amendments
This article will make changes on article 8:The Shroom Cap-inet to improve DAO structure.
- a) Cap-inets can now range from 3-9 depending on the activity of AS.
- b) The Cap-inet role can be filled through:
- b1. Popularity vote when more than 50% of AS are active (at least 75)
- b2. Appointed by the development team with or without endorsement from previous Capinets or other ancient shrooms. When less than 50% of AS are active (less than 75)
- b3. Capinets need not be AS holders. They may be selected from the greater MMC community as long as they show merit for the role.
- c) Each Capinet will have a unique role which will be defined before vote or upon appointment.
The person in the Cap-inet role will be reviewed at least once a quarter.
This is to Determine if the person requires any support or changes to their role Has the capacity to continue fulfilling their role Needs to step down due to changing prioritize.
- d) At any time a Capinet may step down from their role. Capinets only need to be replaced if:
- There is a need for a specific function.
- There will be less than 3 Cap-inets.

e) Capinets will hold a forum to update AS as needed.

f) The cap-inet role will be a salaried role. Amount will be determined in agreement with the development team, operations head and other cap-inets. Payment will be taken from the DAO funds and be paid on a monthly basis.

g) If a part of Article 8 is not mentioned above that specific part remains in force.
Capinet & Staff Review
- Upon implementation of Article 12 a review of all current Capinets to determine the inactive ones and the required roles needed to support MMC’s growth initiative.
A review of needed roles and skills to insure the continued operations of MMC. A new working structure will be proposed to ensure smooth and engaging operations.
Goal
- The goal of these changes is to allow us to swiftly shift gears and create strategies to boost engagement and funnel new eyes into our project.
