Currently ApeSwap’s Governance Quorum is a 4% threshold, which has proven to be challenging to reach in most governance proposals. Part of the reason for the low voter turnout is due to the reflect mechanic built into GNANA tokens.
Below, we are proposing two different avenues to resolve this challenge. The first simply proposes to lower the quorum percentage to 2.5%. The second proposes to increase the quorum percentage, but redefine what it means for GNANA to be “in circulation.”
ApeSwap will continue to calculate quorum with the existing logic (see notes), but the quorum threshold to pass a governance proposal will be lowered to 2.5% going forward.
ApeSwap will calculate GNANA “in circulation” with new logic. Instead of considering all GNANA to be in circulation, only GNANA that is not staked in a pool will be considered for this new calculation. Specifically, we will only exempt ApeSwap official pools which can be found on the “Active” or “Inactive” tab on the ApeSwap.Finance/Pools UI.
Additionally, ApeSwap governance will increase the quorum threshold to 7.5%.
Quorum Governance is currently calculated by dividing all of the total votes a proposal has, by the total circulating supply of GNANA at the time of snapshot.
All GNANA (whether staked in a pool or not), is currently considered “in circulation”.
