The election phase for the Oversight and Transparency Committee (OAT) will begin today, Thursday 9th of July, and will conclude a week later on Thursday, 16th of July. For the vote, a shutterized, weighted voting system will be utilized.
All candidates that applied have passed the preliminary eligibility check and will therefore participate in the elections. In the event that an elected candidate fails to pass the full compliance process after their election, the seat will be offered to the next eligible candidate by votes received.
The applicants are (in order of their application):
We also held two DAO calls in which the applicants presented their case on why they'd be a good fit for the OAT. You can find the recordings here (Pedro Breuer, Max Lomu, Zeptimus, A.J. Warner, Jojo, Rika Goldberg) and here (Patrick McCorry, Federico Holzwarth, Varit Ruangsiri, Tom Berry, João Kury).
Any delegate not participating in the OAT election is free to vote however they wish. A delegate that is also participating in the election should disclose any conflict of interest when voting, but they are not expected to alter their voting in any way.
The 'Responsible Voting Policy' that was present in the first OAT election is no longer part of the Code of Conduct, or the DAO's procedures, so delegates can spread their voting power however they wish. Delegates and participating candidates who seek to abstain from the vote can do so by voting in a neutral manner, e.g., by splitting the voting power equally across all candidates to effectively abstain.
