AIP5 - What should the DAO’s voting system be?

Voting ended almost 4 years agoSucceeded

AIP: 0005 Title: Governance - voting system Authors: @silkenoa, @zylo Type: Process

Summary

This proposal addresses the voting system.

The current voting system implements a single choice voting system pursuant to which a person can elect only one choice and a minimum of 3,470,307,901 $Justice tokens equivalent to 20% of the $Justice token supply are necessary to vote in order for a proposal to pass. Once this threshold has been met, whichever decision has more votes wins. If a proposal does not reach the quorum threshold, a proposal fails.

Details

For the new governance structure, what should the voting system of the AssangeDAO be?

What should the DAO’s voting system be? a) Single Choice Voting (Each voter may select only one choice) or Approval Voting (Each voter may select any number of choices) as decided by the Proposers/authors. b) Quadratic voting (Each voter may spread voting power across any number of choices. Results are calculated quadratically.) c) Ranked choice voting (Each voter may select and rank any number of choices. Results are calculated by instant-runoff counting method.) d) Weighted voting (Each voter may spread voting power across any number of choices.) e) Basic voting (Single choice voting with three choices: (1) For, (2) Against or (3) Abstain) f) none of the above / discuss further

Motivation

The voting system was set up by the core team members to get the DAO started. The DAO however should make its own decisions. This is one of several snapshot proposals to decide the new governance structure of AssangeDAO.
