Committee Chair Elections

Voting ended about 4 years agoSucceeded

There will be 2 terms for Committee Chairs:

  • a Fall term with elections beginning in October.
  • a Spring term with elections beginning in April.

Contested Seats (Week 1) In the first week of an election month, contested seats will be determined. A committee seat is considered contested if

  1. The current chair announces that they are resigning from their position.
  2. A challenger candidate submits a bid for the seat with signatures of support from at minimum 5 DAO members.

Platform Solicitation (Week 2) Candidates for contested seats are given one week to prepare and discuss their platform for election.

Platform presentations (Week 3) A general meeting is held at the beginning of this week, giving an audience for official platform presentations from the candidates. The remainder of the week is reserved for discussion of the candidates amongst DAO members.

Vote (Week 4) At the beginning of this week, a series of snapshot proposals are posted with the following information:

  • A description of the contested committee's responsibilities
  • A link to each candidate's presentation or summary of platform
  • Voting options in the form of the candidate's name and/or discord handle.

Voting will be conducted via ranked choice voting (IRV) and will be open for 1 week.

Each voter may rank any number of choices. Votes are initially counted for each voter's top choice. If a candidate has more than half of the vote based on first-choices, that choice wins. If not, then the choice with the fewest votes is eliminated. The voters who selected the defeated choice as a first choice then have their votes added to the totals of their next choice. This process continues until a choice has more than half of the votes. When the field is reduced to two, it has become an "instant runoff" that allows a comparison of the top two choice head-to-head.
