Proposal Overview
This proposal calls for the termination of the current Business Development (BD) initiative led by Matt Nowakowski and the Aventus Community Business Development (ACBD) team, due to failure to meet agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), lack of transparency, and inefficient use of treasury funds.
This proposal believes that continuing this initiative is not in the best interest of the network or the long-term sustainability of the treasury.
More Details
In January 2025, the Aventus Network community approved a 6-month pilot initiative to fund a structured BD strategy under the leadership of Matt Nowakowski via governance vote.
This was later extended via a second proposal based on a refined strategy involving “bridge teams.”
The proposal promised the following outcomes:
- 3 appchains launched
- Significant treasury contributions ($2.5M target)
- On-chain transaction growth (100,000+)
- Quarterly KPI reviews
- Monthly community updates and transparency
However, after 9+ months of funding, these promises remain largely unfulfilled, with only vague updates and limited results.
Reasons for Termination
Failure to Deliver KPIs
- Only 2 appchains (Atmos and Opalite) partially launched, both heavily bootstrapped by ACBD themselves.
- No evidence of substantial external adoption or growth.
- No credible sign of the $2.5M treasury contribution target being on track.
Poor Transparency and Community Communication
- Updates have been inconsistent, unclear, or overly promotional.
- Key milestones have been delayed with vague justifications.
- Community feedback on Telegram and other channels has been ignored or deflected.
Misuse of Treasury Funds
- Over $80,000+ in AVT paid out with little to no measurable return.
- Travel/event budget spent with no visibility into ROI.
- Bonuses structured in a way that rewards internal efforts (e.g. Atmos and Opalite) instead of truly external ecosystem growth.
Inefficient Strategy
- The “bridge team” model has not resulted in scalable ecosystem growth.
- BD efforts appear limited to small, internal initiatives with minimal outside traction.
Benefits to AVT Community
- Protects the Treasury: Stops ongoing unnecessary outflows of AVT for underperforming work.
- Improves Accountability: Sends a message that results and transparency are expected.
- Refocuses on Real Growth: Redirects resources to more promising technical or ecosystem initiatives.
- Strengthens Governance: Reaffirms the power of the community in holding teams accountable.
This proposal urges all AVT holders to vote in favor to halt the wasteful spending of treasury funds, enforce accountability, and reprioritize efforts that will drive real utility and adoption for Aventus Network.
NB: For clarity, votes ‘For’ this proposal are voting in favor of terminating the existing BD initiative. Votes ‘Against’ this proposal are voting against terminating the existing BD initiative.
