Proposal: Enabling Extra Emojis on Base Name Service (BNS) V2

Note: As a result of the Gitcoin passport requirement by Snapshot, certain users encountered difficulties in voting. To promptly resolve this issue, we swiftly addressed it by creating our own customized voting system and seamlessly integrating it with Snapshot. Consequently, users now have the capability to vote on the V2 proposal without any hindrance.

Introduction

Since the launch of emojis support on the Base Name Service (BNS), users have been enthusiastically experimenting with emoji names, expressing themselves in innovative ways. As part of our commitment to continually enhance the user experience, we propose enabling a new set of emojis for BNS. In this proposal, we present two categories, "Activities" and "Travel and Places," and seek input from the community to determine which category should be enabled next. The new emojis will be made available on June 29, 2023, at 09:00 AM Pacific Time (PT).

Objective

The primary objective of this proposal is to expand the range of emojis available on BNS, providing users with more creative options for personalizing their domain names. By introducing emojis from the "Activities" or "Travel and Places" categories, we aim to cater to a diverse set of user preferences and foster greater expression and engagement within the BNS ecosystem.

Proposal Details

1. Activities: This category includes emojis representing various leisure, sports, hobbies, and recreational activities. Examples may include emojis related to music, gaming, fitness, art, and other popular activities.
2. Travel and Places: This category encompasses emojis associated with different locations, landmarks, modes of transportation, and travel-related concepts. Users can choose from emojis representing cities, natural landmarks, vehicles, and more.

Implementation Plan

Once the community has decided on the preferred category, our development team will work diligently to enable the selected set of emojis on BNS. The implementation will adhere to established BNS standards and best practices, ensuring compatibility with existing BNS infrastructure and minimizing any potential disruptions or conflicts.
