[BIP-16] - New BAS Emissions Schedule (Amendment and Implementation of BIP-13)

As BIP-13 passed nearly 2 months ago, the proposed BAS emissions schedule has been updated and adjusted accordingly and is now ready to be implemented on 5/31/2021.

Currently, the protocol is emitting 18,643 BASv2/week

The emissions schedule will be modified as below:

Week 27 (5/31) – Reduction to 15,182 BASv2 (approx. 18%) Week 28 onwards – 11% reductions

The previously proposed annual inflation will also be amended:

Year 2 – 4% (previously 5%) Year 3 – 3.5% (previously 4%) Year 4 – 3% (no change) Year 5 and beyond – 2% (no change)

We believe that the modified schedule will allow us to maintain the intent of BIP-13 despite the delayed implementation, as we will reach 1M BAS minted in Week 333 (7 years) and ensure that we have ongoing emissions to incentivize protocol growth while maintaining scarcity.
