TL;DR - approve a budget of up to $15,000 for spend with Octav Finance over the next 12 months, covering portfolio and transaction data, accounting and portfolio tracking, and ongoing development work.
Last year, Staworth received approval to begin a partnership with Octav as Beefy’s new provider for accounting and portfolio analytics software. Our aim was to rapidly improve and accelerate our accounting efforts, in line with Octav’s aggressive development pipeline and commitment to build alongside Beefy.
We’re pleased to report that the previous year has been a great success. This proposal seeks to renew the relationship for a further year to continue pushing the limits of our financial reporting.
Throughout 2025, Staworth and Octav achieved a great deal together:
Successfully migrated all critical functionality and settings from Cryptio to Octav, ensuring uninterrupted service continuity and consistent standards of reporting.
Prepared new automations covering 90-95% of typical transactions (tens of thousands per year). This means that the vast majority of transactions touching upon the Beefy treasury on serviced chains are automatically identified, captured and categorised without the need for human input.
Created the Octav Discord Bot service that is currently live on the Beefy Discord. The bot serves summary information on the state of Beefy’s treasury, according to custom queries inputted by users.
Collaborated on the new public Beefy subdomain on Octav.fi, which includes opening up all of Beefy’s transaction data and categories to the public.
Developed the Beefy Financial Hub - a new web application designed to provide a deep level of financial insight and analysis for users and interested parties, as well allowing users to prepare complicated queries and widgets built on Beefy’s data for themselves.
Co-hosted two side events at ETHDenver and DevConnect, hosting hundreds of DeFi’s best and brightest to network and partner together.
To mark the end of the first year, we published a summary article on the Beefy Blog outlining our key steps forward. Staworth also prepared a deep-dive blog post outlining the process of developing the Beefy Financial Hub on Octav’s technology stack.
Looking ahead to 2026, Octav and Staworth are exploring a range of pathways to continue pushing the boundaries of our work. These include:
Building new custom UI widgets together, to provide new forms and depths of analytical insight, in a form that is both valuable for Beefy and replicable for Octav.
Developing new API endpoints and configurations to enable transmission of novel forms and greater quantities of data for new use cases.
Extending and adding new distribution channels (such as the Discord Bot) to extend the utility of Beefy’s financial data.
Expanding the Financial Hub to include additional forms of data, widget types and dashboards to meet emerging needs and edge cases.
Integrating new chains, protocols and tokens into Octav’s existing frontend, to extend the range of accounting operations that Octav supports.
In 2025, we requested a budget of up to $12,000 allocated for spend with Octav. In total, we have spent just $6,000 of that budget in the first year on subscriptions to Octav’s core web application.
With the first year now over, Beefy will be migrated to Octav’s new subscription models, which will result in a small net increase due to an additional 5 Lite subscriptions for additional chains (current total set at $6,234 for a full renewal). The small size of this increase reflects a nominal reduction in the price for our existing Pro subscriptions, which is offset by the addition of Lite. However, as with the 2025 budget, we are requesting approval for funds in excess of the current number of subscriptions, in the expectation that new chains will continue to be integrated by Beefy and Octav, necessitating additional subscription payments.
In addition, Octav introduced two new paid services in 2025: its API, and its dashboard widgets. The API has been the crucial component that enables Beefy’s Financial Hub and Discord Bot to function, funded generously in 2025 by Octav as an early builder on top of the service. We have also been given initial free trials of Octav’s widget library during 2025, but may expect that widget development and subscription costs may feature in the 2026 budget.
Ultimately, the precise cost of these two additional items cannot be fully projected at the ime of writing, and will depend on: (i) Beefy’s own usage and needs; and (ii) Octav’s own pace of development and willingness to develop products to meet Beefy’s needs. We have therefore included sufficient headroom in this budget to ensure our services can continue to run in 2026 in all eventualities.
In total, we are requesting a $15,000 budget in 2026. We are committed to using all reasonable endeavours to keep costs down and save the DAO money wherever the opportunity presents itself.
Beefy DAO should renew its engagement with Octav for another year and allocate a maximum budget of $15,000 for spend with Octav over the next 12 months.
