As we all know, Bastards are one of the best NFTs created in 2021.
In opinion of many, they can easily compete with BAYC, as their art is superior, owners have full IP and Commercial Rights on NFT level, and they are first PFP in existence created by GAN technology, and they have separate smart contract where owners can create their own license, etc.
Yet, Bastards had only few moment of shine on 2021: at the very start, where many influential people mentioned them on social media, and then particularly few months ago, where after MoonOverlord shortly management of our Discord, their floor price was reaching 1 eth for a very short time. But the he left quickly, from reasons I do not know yet.
At the moment, we are in 0.2 - 0.3 E levels. Many very cheap copypastas, like Phunks, are meanwhile reaching 10x - 30x valuation of Bastards. This is only due to overal management of their community, as (except that they represent IP theft), there is not much they can offer.
Another collection is BAYC, which really derives basically 95% of their valuation from community management, which is excellent.
It is a fact that none of above projects are managed in DAO style, instead they have very efficent management teams, who caters for their nft holders and community.
Bastards right now are "floating" in DAO style, which is supposed to promote creation and innovation of each individual member, without any directional management of some leadership team. While this is great idea, and we see that it indeed bring some fruits (people are submitting proposals, and some are great, like recent popranks for Bastards and Glixpixxx), it seems to me that we are missing 99% of potential we could have.
Basically, there are always lot of suggestions from many people, but almost 0 follow up and execution upon those suggestions. For months, people already submited hundreds of suggestions what should be done, but only very few took any initiative.
This is because there is a "bystander psychological effect" in play: everyone have lot of things to do irl, so everyone is waiting for someone else to do something. Poor communication certainly helps to boost this effect: as we do not communicate clearly on what is going on, I think everyone hopes or thinks that someone is doing something.
We hope that maybe Mooncat is doing something behind the scenes, that maybe Berk is doing something, that Rosco is doing some marketplace, that Snoop is doing something, maybe Cobie will mention us once again, what about MoonOverlord or Notsofast, that maybe ShroomDaddy will do something, can dev do something? :)
There is almost 0 communication, yet we have so many strong players and Bastard holders, which, if things were properly organised and we could use synergy and marketing for all these things, we could easily compete with BAYC.
I am not sure DAO in the way we have atm is the right way to do it, although maybe it just require more time to develop and show its benefits. The notable thing here is that none of key members of Bastard community had any previous experince with DAO, and it reflects a bit, imo.
I am almost sure however that if we hire experienced CEO who will manage our community for next 6 months, we can start competing with BAYC.
The issue is this: although "organic growth" and floating in 0.2 - 0.3 ETH floor price range is nice, we also need to care about our community. To make things engaging for almost 3k holders of Bastards and 1k holders of Glicpixxx, while also make sure that their investment (because for many it is an investment) grows in time.
When part of NFT community, imo everyone wants following 2 things, which BAYC provides rn, but Bastards are lacking:
So please decide: would you like to continue with DAO style, or would you like me, Berk or Snoop (whoever will take time for this task) to hire CEO, as per following parameters:
CEO will be hired for period of 6 months or shorter. He/she will work for free, but will get reward from BastardDAO only in case he/she will manage to complete following KPI (key performance indicators).
He/She can finish involved anytime and get 10 ETH reward, after he/she manages to achieve:
CEO will have unlimited powers in general, but spending will have to be approved by Bastard Signers, where Berk will have always veto power for any decision. This will be more "autocratic" style" of managing things, but I think Signers were already voted on by Community, and this will prevent dissipation of CEO's energy in endless discussions and suggestions (which are so typical for our community right now), and it will resenble the exact way BAYC and other succcesful projects are managed right now.
I ask everyone to discuss this proposal, and think about it. I am sure you will probably disagree with some of its part, but think about it from general perspective. I just want to let you know that I personally prefer DAO ideas, I am also idealistic and for web3 ideas. But if DAO can not be executed perfectly at this time, for me CEO is certainly an option.
If you agree to hire CEO, there is high probability in my opinion that in few months we will have many articles published, we will have our Bastards promoted in museums, exhibitions, on Youtube, on Tic Toc, and we will have vibrant community. We will also promote Berk as artist, which is what he deserves after all he gave to us, but we will also benefit from it, as holders of his work.
After we have all that, we can go back to DAO style (and probably back o 0.2 floor, lol). Or we can decide then to keep CEO style.
In general, there is no risk in this proposal in case CEO is not performing, as we pay reward ONLY in case KPIs mentioned above are achieved:
