BIOPSY-23: Establishing a Simple Meta-Governance Framework for BioDAO Token Holdings

Summary

This proposal outlines a clear and efficient process for the Bio team to exercise its available voting power within the BioDAO's governance. The goal is to create a streamlined internal decision-making mechanism that enables the Bio Team to participate effectively in proposals while maintaining a lean operational overhead.

Background

As a significant stakeholder, the Incubator Bio team has a responsibility to contribute to the BioDAO's growth and stability through thoughtful governance participation. This proposal establishes a foundational framework for internal coordination and decision-making, ensuring that the Bio Team's votes are cast strategically and efficiently.

Proposal Details

If this proposal passes, the Bio Team will adopt the following governance process for its token holdings:

  • Team Composition: A group of five Bio team members will be designated for governance discussions. These members' names will be publicly known. The five designated team members will discuss relevant governance proposals internally.
    • Until stated otherwise, these members will be Lukas Weidener, Liam (Paul) Drouet, Erik Van Winkle, Clemens Ortlepp, and Alex Dobrin.
  • Default Stance: The Incubator Bio's default position on all governance proposals will be to abstain by not voting.
  • Voting Threshold: A minimum of 3 out of 5 votes from the designated team members is required for a decision to pass internally within the specified timeframe for a given proposal.
  • Voting Execution: Once an internal decision is reached, the Bio team will vote with 100% of its available voting power on the relevant BioDAO governance platform.
  • Communication of Results: A designated member of the Bio team will initiate the on-chain transaction for voting and communicate the outcome of the Bio Team's vote on relevant BioDAO discussion forums (e.g., Discord, governance forum).
  • Replacement of Members: A minimum of 3 out of 5 votes from the designated team members is required for a member to be replaced on the meta-governance council. Any changes to members will be communicated publicly.

Conclusion

By formalizing this simple governance pathway, the Incubator Bio team can effectively leverage its voting power to support the BioDAO's progress while maintaining a lean and efficient operational model. This process ensures that the team's influence is applied strategically when necessary, contributing to the overall health and direction of the BioDAO. This should be viewed as an MVP meta-governance proposal with additional iterations to come later on.
