Community Proposal #4

Committee Approved Non-Commercial IP Proposals

What is this proposal?

A proposal that if approved would be a trial run of giving some powers to the Bobu Committee to vote on and pass select non-commercial proposals via majority Committee vote via a majority vote from the seven member committee. (Five community members, two Chiru team members.)

What is the purpose of this proposal?

Increase Bobu proposal output while keeping the experiment engaging and fun for holders. The aim will be to keep voter fatigue in check, thereby maintaining a high level of voter turnout and engagement on high impact / high $$ grant proposals. It’s also worth noting that just because a proposal isn’t “high impact” or “high value”, does not mean it wouldn’t make it to a community vote. If the committee were to believe a proposal is something that a meaningful % of holders are excited about, or would want to vote on it will go to vote.

What are the benefits to holders?

Given this ability, we hope to facilitate a more efficient and effective decision-making process, while also encouraging innovation and creativity in our community. Our goal is to prioritize small-scale projects and initiatives that can make a meaningful impact, without burdening voters or requiring significant resources. Through our efforts, we aim to foster a more collaborative and engaged community that is better equipped to tackle important issues and drive positive change. Done correctly, this will grow Bobu’s brand and influence at an accelerated rate that wouldn’t otherwise be possible.

Proposal Specifics

The Bobu Committee is asking specifically for the following:

  • The ability to pass select non-commercial proposals, within a six month trial period. If this experiment is a success, the committee will submit a new proposal with edits & learnings from the trial at the end of the six month period.

  • An allocation of 10 ETH from the Bobu Treasury to give the committee the ability to award committee approved non-commercial proposals with a maximum of a 1 ETH grant to support their Bobu IP proposal. There will be no pressure to give this grant money out, and will be given only if a clear need is illustrated. If funds remain at the end of the six months they will be returned to the treasury.
