Proposal to Consider Purchasing the Twitter Verified Organizations Program

Summary: This proposal seeks to gather feedback from Boring Security DAO members on whether or not the DAO should pay $1,000 per month to obtain the Twitter Verified Organizations program (aka Gold Check), which would allow us to manage our verification, affiliate and verify related accounts, and unlock new features on Twitter.

Background: Twitter recently introduced the Verified Organizations program, which offers a gold or gray checkmark to businesses, non-profits, and government institutions to verify their accounts and unlock new features. Verified organizations can manage their verification, receive custom organization profiles, defend against impersonation, access premium support, and receive elevated tweet, DM, and media upload limits. The program costs $1,000 per month, plus $50 per additional affiliated account per month.

Proposal: The Boring Security DAO proposes to consider purchasing the Twitter Verified Organizations program. Members are invited to vote on the following questions:

Should Boring Security DAO purchase the Twitter Verified Organizations (TVO) program for $1,000 per month?

If yes, you are also agreeing to our contributor proposed rewards program: --Contributors currently receive perks for being active/hitting certain milestones. --A Boring Security DAO affiliation badge costs $50 a month, but would be subsidized by DAO members who: ----Have been in the top 25% of DAO earners for 3 months straight ----Has not been inactive in the DAO for 2 months ----Has reached at least $3000 earned with the DAO

Contributors who want the affiliation badge can forgo $50 worth of apecoin to receive the badge instead, effectively ‘self-paying’ for the badge if they maintain activity in the DAO.

Total Cost: $13,600 would be set aside for this effort. The cost breakdown as follows:

TVO For 1 Year: $10,000 for the base Gold Check mark on the @BoringSecDAO twitter account.

TVO Contributor Allowance: $3,600 for the top 5-7 DAO contributors (on average) getting their “Organization Affiliation” Twitter Blue paid for.

Note: There doesn’t appear to be any added VAT/Taxes for this service

Implications: Purchasing the Twitter Verified Organizations program could help Boring Security DAO elevate and distinguish its brand on Twitter, defend against impersonation, and access premium support and elevated tweet, DM, and media upload limits. However, the program also comes at a significant cost, representing ~3% of the current DAO treasury for just 1 year of subscription. Members should carefully consider the costs and benefits of the program before casting their vote.
