BBH Amsterdam & the huge Bear canvas

Summary:

Four canvas, three auctions & one open edition of the pieces made @ WIHH gallery during the Devconnect 2022 @ Amsterdam.

Abstract:

In April 2022, during 4/20, the team made an artist focused intervention in Amsterdam. The goal was to introduce & onboard as many traditional artists into the web3 world.

Our focus was to collaborate with as many local artists as possible, so we patched 4 big canvas together to create a single huge canvas. This allowed plenty of space for multiple artists to do their thing.

Now we will be disassembling the paiting into those 4 original canvases and auctioning 3 panels & giving one away to participating community members. All ether collected in these initiatives will go to all artists involved in the piece.

Motivation:

Back in 2022 our biggest motivation was to bring existing, talented, artists onchain for the first time.

Right now it's to find a home for those canvases while making sure the artists involved make as much money as possible for their time & work.

Results

8 local artists participated in the canvas.

500+ people reached in the gallery during the 15 days.

200+ BBH x Amsterdam merch given out.

10+ Bear holders showed up.

2+ new Bear community members aquired IRL.

Specification Overview:

During Devconnect Amsterdam April 2022, mesk & defijesus organised an in-person activity to showcase the Buzzed Bear Hideout DAO & to create real-world impact on the local traditional artist scene.

WIHH gallery was one of our main supporters as they gave us free access to their beautiful space in a premium location. During those 15 days they had daily events happening in the space which brought a lot of people to see our piece being made and engage with it.

This proposal asks for a refund of all expenses involved with the creation of these activities. All expenses were kept to a bare minimum, artists did not receive upfront payment (besides food, drinks & laughs) for their work.

This proposal also includes a three month-long, incentivised bidding, auctions will be created on the Ethereum network. At the same time an open edition on the Zora network will be created to celebrate the whole piece (4 panels still together). Holders of this open edition will have a chance of adquiring one of the 4 canvas for free.

All funds generated from the auction will be equally shared between all parties (8 artists involved + gallery) involved in the making of the piece.

Mesk & defijesus will receive zero payment for their time & efforts working on this proposal. (15 days of working all day + hundreds of hours planning & organizing everything).

The total expenses for 2 people for 15 days is 5004 euro. Here is a cost breakdown:

• Flights = 625

• Accomodation = 2421 (80 euro per person per night)

• Tshirts = 502

• Materials = 483

• Food = 913 (15 euro per meal average)

• Business Cards = 60euro

Felfire did a lot of the social media & video editing to make this possible. They also helped us a lot on the ground during those 2 weeks, finally he also spent a lot of time helping us organizing all this stuff. For this work we are requesting an aditional 1000 euro to compensate Felfire for his contributions.

Total ask: 6007 euro
