CDP2: Launching Wallet Wars

This proposal is to get consensus from the community to launch Wallet Wars. If you hold a RawPass NFT you will be eligible to vote.

Problem Statement:

Prior to CDP2 an early governance process was adopted, involving chat and Notion platforms, to facilitate stakeholder discussions and decisions. We would like to continue down the path of decentralisation and CDP2 gives us a platform to do so.

Simple Summary:

This CDP (CDP2) outlines the proposal for Balthazar to launch Wallet Wars. The key initiative is to get great input from the community on future activities/ initiatives of the DAO.

Abstract:

CDP2 describes the proposal and opportunity for the DAO to launch its first game, Wallet Wars. Balthazar has done a lot of work on building the marketing activities for Wallet Wars and would like to capitalise on the hype around the brand and launch a game associated with Wallet Wars. However, it's important that the DAO start moving away from the early governance process and allow the community to have greater engagement on the future direction of Balthazar.

Motivation:

The need for a structured governance mechanism was evident due to the lack of a formal governance token. However, through the successful launch of Raw Passes, the DAO can use NFT holders to help make decisions on behalf of the community.

The Wallet Wars game is an example of how Balthazar DAO is leveraging their presence within the web3 ecosystem. Launching the Wallet Wars game demonstrates Balthazar DAOs progress and commitment. It showcases the efforts, both in terms of technical development and community-building, reinforcing trust and confidence among the community.

In addition, introducing the Wallet Wars game will attract new users and community members through gaming and demonstrating interactive blockchain technology. This will also capitalise on the momentum of the Balthazar RawPass NFT community holders created through marketing and community collaboration.

Specification:

What is Wallet Wars? Wallet Wars is a skill-based arcade game that seamlessly combines strategy and finance through Balthazar DAO’s innovative Babylon SDK/onboarding technology.

What is a RawPass NFT? RawPass is an NFT that serves as gateway to the Balthazar DAO ecosystem which will provide guaranteed allocation to BZR token presale.

Currently there are 1,604 RawPass holders as of 13th of December 2023 (https://opensea.io/collection/raw-pass). That is 29% unique holders of 5,555 RawPass total supply.

Overview:

Balthazar DAO is taking initial steps to community-led decision making by receiving consensus from the community to launch the Wallet Wars game. RawPass NFTs holders will take an active role in this process.

Initially, only RawPass NFT holders will be eligible for voting. However, upon the launch of the BZR token, additional strategies will be introduced, enabling all BZR token holders to actively participate in the voting process.

This transition will be a significant step towards inclusive governance, empowering every token holder to contribute to the evolution of the DAO and aligning with our commitment to decentralised decision-making.

Rationale:

CDP2 progresses from the success of RawPass NFT's launch, where a significant number of engaged community members were produced. Recognising this, an opportunity has arised to advance the decentralisation process from CDP1.

Balthazar Dao wants to demonstrate that necessary steps toward decentralisation are being considered. Implementing governance through RawPass NFTs is the first step toward decentralisation by providing community-led decision making.

Why do we want to launch wallet wars now? Wallet Wars game launch is a significant milestone that will allow the community and RawPass NFT holders to get involved and interact with the products developed by Balthazar DAO. Leveraging the momentum from community building and marketing efforts, Wallet Wars will provide the chance for the community to interact with each other on new levels and actively get involved with one another to help expand the community.

In addition, the timing is optimal for launching Wallet Wars, as the current positive market sentiment in the crypto market can amplify the impact of the launch. A favourable market environment can lead to increased user engagement, higher adoption rates, and potentially more widespread media attention.
