CIP-7: Migration to Abstract

Voting ended about 1 year agoSucceeded

Summary

The holders of Captain & Company ships (the “Shipholders”) propose migrating home chains from Blast to Abstract.

The choice of home chain is where the majority of game assets will sit. Adjusting the home chain will take considerable technical resources and may slow development on other roadmap items.

Chains attract different types of users, some of which may be better fits for Captain & Company's playerbase.

Important notes:

  • Ships and Skellies would be migrated immediately
  • $CNC would be deployed on Abstract when launched
  • Airdrop Points would continue to be issued, on Abstract
  • Abstract XP would replace Blast Gold as the secondary incentive

Rationale

Players have expressed substantial interest in migrating to Abstract given its consumer and gaming focus.

For new web2-type players, the choice of chain may play a substantial difference depending on how easy onboarding and utilities are around abstracted wallets, e.g. the Abstract Global Wallet.

Abstract's consumer-friendly approach may be more amenable to new players than Blast's approach.

Implications

  • Ship and Skellie metadata would be depopulated on Blast
  • Ship and Skellie metadata would be migrated to Abstract
  • Ships and Skellies would be reminted to holder wallets on Abstract
  • Items and other game logic would be migrated later

Options

  1. Migrate to Abstract
  2. Stay on Blast
