NNS Labs seeks 398,000 USDC over a 12-month term to further develop and solidify their suite of products aimed at strengthening the Nouns ecosystem. This request, reduced from a previous 576k USDC proposal, reflects their commitment to becoming self-sustaining while advancing initiatives that generate recurring revenue, broaden the user base, enhance DAO governance participation, and foster deeper ecosystem-wide utility. They position this as their final major mandate, intended to deliver long-term value and create conditions for the DAO to recover its investment and potentially profit.

NNS Labs operates as a development hub founded in 2022, focusing on onboarding, user participation, and financial inflow beyond auctions. Their vision is to build a diversified and non-forkable revenue and engagement infrastructure that evolves with NounsDAO and the entire nounish environment. The team’s past mandates produced key assets: NOGS, an ecosystem token integrated with nounish NFTs; the open-source NNS identity protocol and .nouns names revenue stream; the Resolver and Referral Rewards systems; and Noggles Club, a platform for daily raffles and community engagement. Together, these products form a vertical stack that can be applied to Nouns and sub-communities, adding layers of financial return, user incentives, and social cohesion.

A key pillar of their work is the NOGS token. Initially a small-scale social token, NOGS now boasts over 75k holders, more than $2M in liquidity, and a set of integrated utilities that connect directly to NounsDAO. The token underpins reward mechanisms, tipping systems, governance participation, and NFT value enhancements. The NNS Labs team stresses that NOGS is not just another “memecoin”; rather, it serves as the first holistic nounish currency experiment, merging a robust infrastructure with opportunities for user engagement and DAO revenue. As NOGS grows and as communities adopt its mechanisms, the token’s presence in NounsDAO’s treasury could produce net positive returns. For example, Nouns and Lil Nouns held in the DAO treasury store allocations of NOGS. If NOGS value increases, these assets directly appreciate and can be moved, replenished, or reallocated to benefit the DAO.

Another major piece is the NNS protocol, now fully rebranded and open sourced under the GPLv3 license. NNS no longer focuses solely on .nouns domains; it has evolved into an identity and revenue-sharing protocol. Ninety-five percent of the revenue from .nouns registrations flows back into the ecosystem—split between Resolvers (infrastructure that ensures domain resolution across multiple platforms) and referrals. This model incentivizes communities to spread adoption, improve cross-platform identity recognition, and nurture a more unified nounish network. The protocol’s adaptability means that any sub-DAO or community looking to establish their own naming system or identity layer gains instant access to the established NNS Resolver network, cutting down time and complexity.

Noggles Club, another core product, aims to tackle a longstanding challenge: many nounish creations—from artworks to NFTs to physical products—generate buzz but then fade quickly. Noggles Club curates these ecosystem outputs into a platform of daily raffle-based drops. Users enter raffles using tickets allocated by holding NOGS or by participating in various nounish communities. This converts new products into regular engagement opportunities, exposing them to a larger audience and creating a culture of continuous discovery and excitement. Noggles Club leverages Farcaster integration for community-building and social sharing. With over 56 daily drops in past experimental seasons, they’ve amassed thousands of ticket uses, hundreds of participants, and substantial social engagement. Noggles Club v.1 aims to become a standalone platform accessible to communities inside and outside Nouns, potentially driving cross-pollination, attracting new users, and expanding the ecosystem’s reach.

Across their mandates, NNS Labs has delivered tangible results. They cite raising more than 525 ETH in liquidity for NOGS, airdropping $4M in NOGS value to Nouns/Lil Nouns/Gnars holders, spurring notable increases in nounish NFT prices, and launching tipping and governance integrations on Farcaster. They developed Resolver and Referral Rewards systems, .nouns domain sales, and strategic NFT acquisitions that unlock ongoing returns. Additionally, the team nurtured a culture of user feedback and rapid iteration, continuously evolving their products to meet changing market conditions, community desires, and shifting ecosystem metas. Instead of remaining rigid, they emphasize adaptation and modularity.

For this 12-month request, the 398k USDC budget primarily covers operational expenses—core team salaries, engineering support, part-time developers focusing on global integrations, community management, content creation, and design. A portion is dedicated to marketing, prizes, and rewards within Noggles Club to maintain user interest and expand participation. They propose a monthly stream of 28k USDC for ongoing work and a 60k USDC reserve for flexible, on-demand initiatives early in the mandate.

In return, they promise to refine NOGS and unlock more utility, finalize and scale a white-label platform that lets any community adopt their proven infrastructure (including tipping, governance modules, and identity solutions), and upgrade Noggles Club into a fully matured product. They will also continue building out revenue streams, strengthening the NNS Resolver network, and encouraging cross-community growth so that all parts of the nounish universe can benefit. By the end of this mandate, their objective is that the DAO recovers the fully funded amount and establishes a foundation for indefinite, ever-evolving revenue and onboarding mechanisms.

NNS Labs acknowledges the concerns about treasury health and long-term viability. Their response is to deliver systems that produce ongoing returns rather than one-off grants. By becoming self-sustaining and sharing revenues back with the DAO, they believe that NNS Labs initiatives can help maintain the “Nouns Virtuous Cycle,” ensuring that NounsDAO and its ecosystem remain vibrant, attractive, and growth-oriented.
