Celo Uganda Developer Workshop 2.0

Hello Celo Africa Community,

I'm Mukunde Brisa, Celo technical ambassador, in Uganda and I'm excited to announce a proposal for the Celo Developer workshop 2.0 that will happen on Friday, 23rd June 2023, in Kampala, at Innovation Village.

Introduction

As the blockchain ecosystem expands, it is crucial to nurture and attract emerging Web3 talent to support the growth of decentralized applications (dApps) and blockchain platforms. This proposal aims to organize a Celo Developer Workshop, focusing on attracting local talent through community building and developer relations, and community education. By addressing these areas, we aim to foster a vibrant local developer community and position Celo as a leading blockchain building a digital economy for everyone.

Workshop Details:

The Celo Developer Workshop will be a hybrid event, attracting at least 50 developers to provide them with comprehensive training and support. The workshop will be a combination of in-person attendance, hands-on coding sessions, collaboration and networking sessions.

Format of the Workshop

The workshop will be in a hybrid format to learn, build, collaborate and share innovations, lasting for a week.

Participants will have access to:

Online guided sessions for developers. Mentorship Developer office hours Exploring celo tutorials and documentation

This workshop will group participants into 3-4 person teams. Individual entries will be approved as well. Participants have to submit a description of their project ideas & code which will be hosted on the Celo Uganda GitHub.

Workshop Goals and Objectives

Empower the developer community, onboard curious and passionate developers and help them in their transition to web3 leveraging Celo Blockchain. Learn and build solutions to the challenges existing in the community ranging from traditional finance and other industries Engage with the developer community on the potential of blockchain technology, and provide a development, adoption, collaboration, networking and learning platform leveraging Celo.

Success Metrics.

At least 50 attendees or participants Contract kit downloads Smart contracts developed Participants joining Celo Africa DAO Subscriptions to Twitter and other Celo platforms Contact information was collected and Images & Videos

Budget

Requested Amount: 500 cUSD To successfully execute the Celo Developer Workshop, we estimate a budget of cUSD 500, which will cover expenses related to venue rental, snacks, swag and photography.
