Celo Developer Meetup

Hello Celo Africa Community,

I'm Mukunde Brisa, a technical ambassador and I'm excited to announce a proposal of the Celo Developer workshop that will happen on 27th May, 2023, in Kampala at Innovation Village from 9:00AM to 3:00PM.

We have held these events over the past two years and they have proven positive impact and a significant approach towards Celo's mission in the community ranging from hackathons participants, startups and developers willing to explore the web3 space. Therefore, hosting such continuous events will be an added advantage to the developer community and the Celo ecosystem at large.

WORKSHOP DETAILS

This workshop's primary aim is growing the developer community through education, developer onboarding, and initiating university developer relations for Celo and its ecosystem. This workshop will also focus on building a vibrant, active and inclusive community of curious community developers, startups and businesses to develop the skills needed to utilize blockchain technology in Uganda.

The mission of this workshop is to provide comprehensive education and knowledge on blockchain technology and its applications, as well as empower developers to transition to Web3 and businesses to utilize blockchain technology to solve existing problems associated with traditional finance, data storage, digital identities and many other use cases in the region.

CORE GOALS OF THIS WORKSHOP

The primary goal of this workshop is to empower the developer community, onboard curious and passionate developers, and help them in their transition to Web3, utilising Celo blockchain to learn and build solutions to the challenges existing in the traditional financial industry and other use cases.

Additionally, the goal of this workshop is to engage with the developer community on the potential of blockchain technology and provide a platform for learning, adoption, collaboration, development and leveraging web3 solutions on Celo blockchain and its applications. We believe that blockchain technology has the potential to revolutionise various industries and society as a whole, and our main goal is to foster a community of individuals who are knowledgeable and actively involved with this technology and grow the community globally.

IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

The workshop will happen on 27th/05/2023, starting at 9AM EAT This workshop will happen at Innovation Village, Ntinda, Kampala The target audience will include university IT students, web2 developers and web3 developers.

FOCUS AREA

Celo Composer:

• Introduction to celo composer
• Overview of the Celo Progressive Dappstarter(Learn how to quickly develop full-stack progressive web applications on the Celo blockchain in less than 5 minutes)
• Deploy a beginner dapp and Learn about the Project stack i.e. next js, celo contract kit e.t.c
• Develop full stack Dapp using Celo Composer
• Benchmark the Celo Developer Tutorials(Celo Academy) i.e. both frontend and backend
• Deploy on Alfajores testnet

KPIs/ IMPACT METRICS

• Smart contracts developed and Dapps built
• Contract kit downloads
• The number of developers getting started building on Celo Blockchain and completing the onboarding process. (30 - 40 developers/attendees per meetup and an average of 30 developers finishing the onboarding process)
• Photos and Videos
• Contact information
• Target audience reached (40 developers)
