Greetings Team,
We are writing to propose hosting the Celo CodeJam Version 3.0 event on July 29th, aimed at bringing together developers, enthusiasts, and community members to collaborate and explore the potential of the Celo protocol. The CodeJam will serve as an opportunity to foster innovation in the Kenyan ecosystem, drive developer engagement, and strengthen the Celo community.
Objectives:
- Foster Collaboration: Encourage developers to collaborate and work together, fostering a sense of community and cross-pollination of ideas.
- Developer Education: Provide participants with the necessary resources, workshops, and support to enhance their understanding and utilization of the Celo protocol.
- Drive Innovation: Inspire participants to create innovative solutions and applications on top of the Celo blockchain, pushing the boundaries of decentralized finance (DeFi) and financial inclusion.
- Expand Community: Attract new developers and community members, expanding the reach and impact of the Celo ecosystem.
- Promote Adoption: Encourage developers to build and deploy real-world projects on Celo, driving wider adoption of Celo's technology.
Metrics to Track:
- Attendance: Measure the number of participants and track attendance throughout the event.
- Project Output: Assess the number of projects developed during the CodeJam, highlighting the practical applications.
- Developer Engagement: Evaluate the level of engagement through active participation in the Session.
- Feedback and Satisfaction: Luma will help us gather feedback from participants to evaluate their satisfaction levels, identify areas for improvement, and measure overall event success.
Format of the CodeJam:
- Date and Time: The Celo CodeJam will take place on July 29th, from 10 AM to 3PM.
- Venue: This will be an In Person event but users can also participate online.
- Workshops and Technical Sessions: Conduct an interactive workshop to gauge the users understanding of Web3 and Celo.
- Presentation: Presentation and judging of the ideas built during the previous CodeJam held on July 1st.
- Live Coding: Live Coding to take the attendees through a simple usecase of that they will be working on and building during the session.
- Team Formation: Facilitate team formation to encourage collaboration and project development. Participants can form teams or join existing teams to work on the projects.
- Codejam and Project Development: Provide participants with dedicated time to work on their projects, and developer office hours to support them when building.
- Project Presentations and Judging: Participants will showcase their projects during the next CodeJam to the Community for judging based on predetermined metrics.
Budget
To ensure the success of the CeloKenya Code Jam, we are seeking sponsorship from Celo Africa DAO to build on our vision of driving Celo adoption, blockchain innovation and fostering financial inclusion in Kenya. The budget proposal seeks to cater for the venue costs, merchandise, rewards, lunch and tea break.

Format of the Code Jam:
The "Celo Kenya Community Code Jams" will be a hybrid event, running for a period of 1 week. Participants will have access to:
- Developer office hours
- Celo Tutorials
Submissions:
Participants will be expected to submit their projects to the Celo Kenya Github repo.

Target
- At Least 50 participants for the CodeJam
- 30 Contract kit downloads.
- 7 Projects pushed to Celo Kenya Github
- 20 users join our community (Telegram/Twitter)
- 20 users join the Celo Africa DAO
