Greetings Team,

As the Celo Kenya ecosystem continues to grow, it is important to explore and encourage the development of projects that have a positive impact on the society. The "Celo Community Code Jams'' aims to bring together developers, designers, and other creatives to build innovative projects that leverage the Celo blockchain. The CodeJam will provide a space for developers, designers, and entrepreneurs to come together and collaborate on building new and innovative solutions that can help to make financial services more accessible and inclusive. By bringing together a diverse range of participants, the CodeJam will seek to foster creativity and encourage the development of new ideas that may not have been possible otherwise, this will in turn help to accelerate the development of new solutions that are aligned with Celo's mission.

Objectives:

The objectives of the Code Jam are as follows:

  1. To push the local first initiative by accelerating the adoption of Celo among the ecosystem players.
  2. To encourage the development of projects that that have a positive impact on the society on top of Celo
  3. To spread awareness about the Celo protocol and increase its adoption
  4. To provide a platform for collaboration and learning among developers, designers, and other creatives.
  5. To showcase the potential of Web3 technologies.

Format of the Code Jam:

The "Celo Community Code Jams" will be a hybrid event, running for a period of 1 week. Participants will have access:

  1. Developer office hours
  2. Mentorship from experts
  3. Celo tutorials.

Participants will be encouraged to form teams of up to four people, but individual submissions will also be accepted.

Submissions:

Participants will be expected to submit a brief description of their project, along with their code, which will be hosted on the Celo Kenya Github repo.

Progress, deliverables and metrics

We plan to measure success bytracking

  1. Participants for the CodeJam
  2. Number of contract kit downloads.
  3. Number of projects pushed to Celo Kenya Github
  4. Number of users who join our community (Telegram/Twitter)
