What is Phunky Spotlight? Phunky Spotlight (https://phunkyspotlight.xyz/) is a custom free minting site, which I've built and launched already, to enable Featured Phunky Artists (see Phunks Discord, Artist Spotlight Channel) to produce and share a free open edition mint for Phunks holders.

This open edition could be a thank you, a meme, a 1/1 special, or well... anything the artist wants to give back to the community!

Evidently, there is much love… with over 100 mints across two pieces in its opening weeks!

The Technicals

The site itself is a serverless web application built in React JS with the web3 stack built in (i.e. ethers, Web3 via Metamask and WalletConnect, etc) and leverages a small static JSON file as a simple metadata store for artists data (powers the mint catalogue).

The reason it's serverless and JSON driven? Cost efficiency, potential to host via IPFS/Fleek, and sheer simplicity in maintaining and updating it.

Naturally, there is also a smart contract that provides the minting and tokens. This is a fairly vanilla Open Zepp ERC-1155 Semi-Fungible to allow a multiple holder relationship to open editions - which is verified and transparent on Etherscan.

To ensure you're a phunk, the contract also leverages the Phunks contract interface to ensure the minter holds Phunks in their wallet (balanceOf() call).

Why Phunky Spotlight? Provide a utility to the Phunks community with a cost-effective gas, free mint. The artist receives attention and support, the community receives a little something special.

How to Phunky Spotlight? Suggestion that all featured artists are notified of the requirements to be added to site and provide the necessary materials as part of the featuring process. Participation is optional, of course.

What am I asking for? A small recoup on the costs, maintenance and support looking out for 2yrs:

• Contract Deployment = 0.03 ETH
• Admin / Initialisation = 0.01 ETH
• Adding Collections = 0.52 ETH
• Updating Site Weekly = 1.5 ETH
• Infrastructure, Domain and Subscription = 0.25 ETH
• Bug, Defects, etc = Unless it's a feature request, I'll pick them up… as I coded it
