Hives OTC Scamming Incident

Voting ended almost 2 years agoSucceeded

An incident occurred in December of last year where a community member of ours was scammed of 360 USDC. The member in question was participating in a manual OTC where he offered 360 USDC for around 20x worth of COMB hives.

The deal in specific entailed the purchase of influencer hives (1.25x) directly from the owner. The owner wanted to conduct a peer-to-peer trade as non-standard hives are currently not available for listing on the COMB marketplace.

Subsequently, our community member transferred the funds to the seller during the ongoing dialogue, only to receive nothing in return.

The community member has made several attempts and waited an extended amount of time for a reply about not having the funds sent to him. After which contacted the COMB team internally to discuss the matter.

The COMB team has made several attempts to personally reach out to this person, but have failed to receive a reply, even knowing this person has been on their discord account due to viewing their activity.

We would like to extend the following proposal to the community.

  • The COMB team will freeze this person’s hives and blacklist them from the $COMB token, thus disabling them from interacting with any that they own.
  • The COMB team will remove the stolen hives from this person, alongside additional hives equating to the missing COMB that would have been generated from these stolen hives. These will be returned to the community members.

Thank you to our community, and to those who vote on this decision. COMB is a DAO that is built with our community at our heart, and we strive through this proposal to allow fellow community members to join us in making this decision.
