Melt the Penguin?

Voting ended over 2 years agoSucceeded

As a Creeps & Weirdos collector you get to decide whether to melt the penguin or not.

Created by Boris Z. Simunich on DADA, the Melted Penguin was tokenized in 2017 and recreated as a sculpture by the artist this year. The choice is yours.

Artist’s statement

The Melted Penguin is a critique of superficiality and ego. The intention is to show the value of interiority, in which there is no pretension, and which is usually protected and hidden. This is why so much detail was put into the internal body in the assembly process, details that cannot be seen once they are covered by the external layers. Melting is an essential part of the work because it shows the transition in which the outer layers are removed to make way for the interior. Melting is a metaphor for a weak ego, which melts and disappears to reveal what’s inside: the true self.
