Shufflemint Access & Royalties

Voting ended over 4 years agoSucceeded

Summary: Shufflemint is a tool to help artists generate and distribute content. Getting it in the hands of as many makers as possible could have far-reaching positive effects to hoots. This proposal is effectively a proposal for the dev team to formally discuss the possibility of changing the access model.

Proposal: I would like to propose to formally put up for debate the idea of changing the access model for shufflemint. Instead of making it a requirement to hold a cryptohoot, I propose we make shufflemint free to access. In exchange for free access, I also propose that any project developed/launched through shufflemint have an additional fee attached to the minting price which would then be paid back to current hoot owners.

For example, the fee structure can be +.01 Eth on the mint price. So a project minting an NFT for .03 Eth would end up costing .04 to mint. For a project of 10k NFTs, this would yield 100 Eth for the community fund.

These fees can be distributed in different ways, in the form of airdrop rewards. For example, let's say we distribute 50% of the fees to hoot holders, and 50% to a community pool. There would then be 50 ETH split amongst the 2500 OG hoots, or 0.02 ETH/hoot. So if you're like me and hold 3 hoots, you're getting .06 ETH, if you're really invested in this and hold 50 hoots, you're getting 1 ETH.

This would be more in line with your standard internet-based business model where we aim to benefit from our hoots by providing our service for free to many people. This benefits hoot holders through passive income, and allows smaller artists to really take advantage of a powerful tool without any upfront cost.
