We're introducing an extension of 3 months to the initial Security Council given that the 6-month bootstrapping phase originally provided for in the DAO documents has ended on March 5, 2024.
As mentioned in the summary, the 6-month bootstrapping phase for the first Security Council has ended without initiating the election process on time or discussing in the community the election format or the duration of the position, as established in the documents above.
This leads us to the need to renew the current structure at least until we can agree on the details of the next election. I believe that 3 months is a reasonable time frame to achieve this, contemplating that we should have the action plan approved within the first 2 months and during the third month carry out the electoral process.
The first step would be to conduct a separate Snapshot vote to extend the current Security Council structure for 3 months from the date of approval. This will give us time to continue to discuss the other proposed changes until we have a final version.
The next step would be to reformulate the Security Council election system in a separate Snapshot vote.
