Karma Delegate Dashboard for Connext

Abstract

Karma has developed a Delegate Dashboard for Connext, empowering Connext tokenholders to explore and choose delegates, monitor their DAO involvement, and delegate their tokens on any network supporting Connext tokens. This collaborative effort with the core team led to the creation of the dashboard. We are submitting this proposal to seek the agreed-upon compensation with the core team.

Motivation and Rationale

For a DAO to foster a vibrant and effective governance system, engaging active contributors is essential. It's crucial for the DAO to identify and acknowledge its most active members, assist token holders in aligning with delegates who share their values, ensure accountability, offer potential rewards, and enable contributors to highlight their involvement. Karma’s Delegate Dashboard offers all these capabilities, enhancing the governance framework of the Connext DAO.

Specifications

The Delegate Dashboard features:

1. Delegate Indexing: Automatically indexes and displays all delegates who have received token delegations on the dashboard.
2. Delegate Onboarding: New delegates can easily get involved by logging in with their wallet and completing their profile, enabling them to start accepting delegations.
3. Statistics: Showcases various statistics, including a delegate's voting participation rate, the total number of delegators, their voting weight, and forum engagement.
4. Cross-Network Token Delegation: Facilitates tokenholders in delegating tokens across supported networks. The system automatically detects tokens and assists tokenholders in the delegation process.

In addition to the core features, we offer several functionalities to enhance the experience for both delegates and tokenholders:

1. Delegate Lookup: Enables tokenholders to track their delegates' performance since delegation.
2. Delegator Lookup: Allows delegates to easily view all their delegators.
3. Endorsements: Provides a platform for on-chain endorsements of delegates, facilitating better delegate visibility and discovery.
4. Withdraw Nomination: Enables delegates to withdraw their nomination, alerting potential delegators and preventing further delegations.
5. Onchain Delegate Registry: Delegates can register on an on-chain registry, increasing their discoverability across various DAO platforms.
6. Voting Statistics: Displays comprehensive voting histories and breakdowns, including a 'contrarian index' to indicate how often a delegate votes against the majority.
7. Downloadable Delegate Reports: Offers the ability to download delegate data in CSV format for comprehensive analysis.
8. Snapshot Voting Strategy: Proposes a dynamic voting power assignment in Snapshot, based on delegate activity, using our tailored Snapshot strategy.

Steps to Implement

The dashboard is fully operational. We plan to continually enhance it, introducing more features to further strengthen the governance of Connext DAO.

The dashboard implementation is complete and has been hosted at https://delegate.connext.network/.

Overall Cost

The annual cost for the dashboard is $20,000. The foundation has contributed $5,000 thus far. We are now seeking the remaining $15,000 from the DAO.

The proposed budget totals 75,000 NEXT.
