The Compensation Pod would like to formally propose that we use a Single Giving Circle, instead of Multiple Giving Circles, for Season 2 to compensate contributors to DAO Masters.

Our suggestion for a 'Single Giving Circle' as the best choice for Season 2

What are the variables we're optimizing for:

  • Can we make sure people in Season 2 get properly compensated
  • How many contributors do we have and does a Single circle make more sense vs Multiple
  • How much time do we have to properly setup a Multiple Giving Circle

Thought process:

  • We're a few weeks into Season 2 and only have 18 more days left until Season 2 ends
  • To introduce a new compensation system (i.e. Multiple Giving Circle), without much community deliberation and alignment, will risk creating concerns and disagreements with the system
  • Rather than trying to implement a new system mid-flight through Season 2, we will instead stick with the same system we used in Season 1 (a Single Giving Circle)
  • We believe that introducing a sub-optimal Season 2 proposal, mid-flight, will cause more issues than help so we want to take Season 2 to properly plan for Season 3 and Multiple Giving Circles.
  • In Season 1, we had 20 contributors and we expect to have between 20-30 contributors for Season 2. We believe that a Single Giving Circle will still work for a group of this size, and will still require continued communication and culture of transparency within the DAO Masters Community.
  • In summary, given the short time duration and the risks of creating a poor compensation proposal, suggesting sticking with a Single Giving Circle and implementing a similar process to Season 1.

Risks and concerns:

  • The concerns of using a Single Giving Circle is that they don't scale past a certain number of contributors. Risks include certain individuals feeling like they did not get their fair share, were not properly recognized, and votes were biased towards more popular community members.
    • We plan to address these by working closely with the DAO Master Generals and Project Leads to publish and document all key contributors for each pod

What happens once this is approved?

Season 2 Execution

  • We will work on executing the Season 2 compensation plan using a Single Giving Circle
  • We will share and document the entire process for transparency and knowledge sharing
  • We will also work on syncing closely with the Project Leads to keep track of all contributors and accomplishments (to help with the voting process)
  • We will also do the operational setup of getting people into Coordinape + make sure people are aware of the upcoming deadlines/dates.
  • Post Coordinape Compensation Satisfaction Survey to collect feedback from community
