Currently when a player loses all of most of their chips this generally results in them being in the lowest 20-25% percentiles on the rewards ladder.
However even 10 chips left can result in a large difference in percentile placement as losing all of your chips is unfortunately the most common individual result in poker.
As at least a fifth of players lose all or most of their chips per day this makes those Knocked Out a large cohort which doesn't fit into a percentile bracket well and therefore distorts the results.
Hence I propose that a category is added to the ladder, that of Knocked Out. If a player has only 300 chips or less remaining they would not be counted towards the percentile rankings at all and receive 0.01x rewards ( equal to the current reward for 95-100%).
The team would be able to fine tune the threshold level for players to be considered to be KO'ed, taking into consideration the needs of the Ice poker ecosystem and player rewards / liquidity.
This should be a simple change that will reduce ICE emissions and move the Burn / Earn ratio in a positive direction.
