Background
In the past, we have developed the entire code necessary to play blackjack, roulette & cash poker with off-chain assets. This codebase can currently be found on tominoya scene, in which players can engage on the games using chips. When the games were available they used to drive many users to it, and the quality of gameplay is actually quite good. We also know that ICE sinks / Sources of revenue are one of the main priorities right now to be able to generate a sustainable economy.
Proposal
Enable Blackjack, roulette & cash poker tables in which users can play using either banked ICE or Shine
Rationale
A lot of efforts have been made to develop these games, not only efforts, but a lot of money was poured into the development of these games in the order of millions, not thousands. It makes sense to try to find a way in which we can make use of this code. With this approach, it will be compliant with regulations since both of these assets, banked ICE and Shine are both assets which cannot be redeemed directly into money or they cannot be acquired.
Banked ICE is an asset which allows the user to engage on SnG tournaments, redeem them for AAW wearables or for ICE with a slash, but cannot be acquired, only earned by playing.
Shine is an asset which can be acquired but cannot be redeemed for prizes, it can only be used to enter SnG tournaments.
With a not so high effort we can generate a huge ICE sink using the code we have already developed.
The proposal aims to reuse the existing code, not to refactor it into a tournament of blackjack & roulette which after grabbing community feedback didn't seem to be quite an appealing option. The main reasons why it's not an appealing options are, on one hand because it requires a commitment of time instead of allowing the users to play the number of hands they want, this is the same situation we can see on SnG, users can't just log in to play a few couple of hands, they need to commit and play the entire tournament. And on the other hand, since users are betting using non-cash off-chain assets this solution is already less appealing than what we used to have of real money gambling. The main point of this proposal is to place the efforts on solutions that require low efforts and high impact. If we end up using a lot of development resources to develop a tournament mode of blackjack & roulette and then people don't use it, it's a waste of money & time that could have been used for something else.
