Implement new Discord roles to represent $xDG holding size categories

Voting ended almost 4 years agoSucceeded

Background:

The Decentral Games discord restricts access to partake in discussions in the #governance channel. Today, that threshold is 100 $xDG which at the time of writing is approximately $29 USD.

This low barrier to participate in governance discussions supports the spirit of the DAO. It also aligns with a previous proposal created Feb 9 2022 titled "Incentivize ICE Poker Guild Owners and Players to Participate in Decentral Games Governance" which passed with over 96% Yes votes.

The #governance channel is incredibly valuable to discussing proposals and has a lot of voices due to the low barrier of entry. Some voices are louder than others and the channel is lightly moderated. This leads to lack of perspective about each person's views, suggestions, claims, and most importantly, financial interests.

Proposal:

  • Create 4 to 5 new roles representing ranges of $xDG holdings verified by the existing or similar verification bot.

  • At the DG team's discretion, the role may be either colored or not colored. At minimum, a user shall be able to click on another user's name to see their $xDG holdings role.

Rationale:

During discussion, it is difficult or impossible to know if someone is heavily invested in $DG/$xDG, $ICE, wearables or some combination.

Since the barrier to chat is so low, perspective of each member's $xDG holdings should be visible at least in broad categories. A member with 100 $xDG and 500,000 $ICE could heavily campaign for a proposal favoring $ICE and vice versa. Without perspective, it is easy to make misinformed decisions that could lead the DAO in a dangerous direction. The loudest members, with little holdings, may be heavily influential without even the least bit of disclosure.
