Proposal #22 - Hacked Locked JEWEL Restoration

Voting ended over 3 years agoSucceeded

With the upcoming migration of Serendale from Harmony to Klaytn, we are presented with a unique opportunity to potentially help our community members in a way that is normally never possible. The Locked Jewel currently on Harmony will never unlock and must be snapshotted for replacement balances. Since Locked Jewel will be airdropped and claimed on other chains (following its previously voted on distribution pattern), the receiving address can be adjusted in the case of a verified and proven situation.

Not only would this process return lost assets to their rightful owners, it would also deny them to hackers and scammers. In the world of blockchain, it is a rarity that lost or stolen assets can be returned, and we would be remiss if we did not propose this one-time action. With that said, the process of doing so must be secure in order to avoid any manipulation. The proposed process and application is below.

Compromised Wallet Locked Jewel:

  • Submit the Compromised Locked Token Redistribution Form https://forms.gle/G1iXuR4U7iHCra4z9
  • Locked Jewel must currently reside in a wallet locked by the Harmony Team
  • Must provide official documentation from compromise (Harmony Incident Report, Police Report, FBI Report, etc)
  • This documentation must include a legal name
  • User will need to show identification matching the legal name
  • User will need to send a transaction from the compromised wallet to an address to be disclosed to the user, with a message to be disclosed to the user
  • User will need to send a transaction from the new wallet to an address to be disclosed to the user, with a message to be disclosed to the user
  • Due Diligence on-chain research will also be conducted
