Proposed: Run Community Engagement Contests with Dino Eggs as Pizes

This has been edited by AlabasterJefferson to expand on the original proposal

In order to keep community engagement high and offer a continual stream of novel engagement tactics without draining the DAO's wallet, it is proposed we enable the Community Team to give away Dino Eggs as prizes in community competitions.

Why now?

Over the last two weeks, the Community Team has been offering giveaways and community video game tournaments with Eth and Ziggy tokens as prizes. With the average prize being ~.15Ξ in equivalent value, it is a fairly large prize for winning a giveaway or tournament. The following reasons are suggested that an additional resource we have created: Dino Eggs, can be utilized to empower more frequent community engagement incentivization without costing the team Ethereum.

  • Eggs do not have financial value which also reduces our burden on giveaways. Lesser prizes or consolation prizes can be substituted with Eggs. Small contests that may not have the same gravity as large-scale promotions may need a smaller consideration, so Eggs fit nicely into that slot as a prize that has less cash equivalency.
  • Eggs are only community fuel So the "gamification" we have seen of marbles bots, or burners trying to win raffle prizes are inherently neutered as the only users who would want to win those prizes are users who want to be part of, or enhance their community experience.
  • The Community Team has a fixed Ξ budget that is only refreshed through royalty payouts or additional mints. If we want to increase community engagement through incentivized means using the set budget, we would either have to reduce prizes significantly or start requesting funding from the DAO.
  • The deployer wallet has Dino Eggs to claim from the initial owner mint of Ziggy. The deployer wallet has held 20+ ziggys for promotional purposes multiple weeks since mint meaning there are many eggs in the associated unclaimed pool that can go into contest use. - This is also seen in the Rare Krik auction as the 30 Egg prize is coming from the Deployer Wallet.

The first contest: Dino Babies in Space Community Memes

Most of the recent giveaways and contests have focused on gaming and chance-based wins. We would like to bring back community contests that were present during whitelist competitions. To kick off an Egg reward contest, proposed is a Meme contest. Memes are very open-ended and allow creativity among the community members. At the core of a meme contest is the community mission of Dino Babies in Space - fostering a strong community around the works of Matt Bolinger and Media NFTs.

A floating budget of Dino Eggs

As mentioned in one of the reasons why, the Dino Babies deployer contract is flush with unclaimed eggs. It is suggested in this proposal we treat the unclaimed eggs as the budget for now of Community Team in preparing competitions. Once that budget is drained, then the Community should request the DAO for a new budget of Eggs to circulate back into the community. At no point should the Community team pull eggs from the circulation pool without DAO approval.

What you are voting on

As this proposal has expanded on community growth beyond the one preliminary meme contest, there are two options for approval. The Final Vote will be using Multiple Select Equal Weighting approval voting to ratify either part of the proposal. The options are the following:

  1. Approve one Meme Contest for 30 eggs - The initial meme contest is approved and the team will start work on it
  2. Approve Future Contests for Eggs - The community team will begin to offer Eggs as prizes in future contests
  3. Reject Proposal - Eggs will not be used as prizes

Any option needs over 18% Quorum and also needs to be a greater number of votes than Reject to pass approval on Final Vote.

Abstain does not change any answer but registers eggs as being present in the vote.
