This city needs a cinema hall.

Voting ended almost 3 years agoSucceeded

While we at the Index Team have witnessed many times the stoic Dogelonians' resilience to the harsh conditions new space era settlers need to endure, we are not foreign to the comforts and luxuries of modern life.

What should good life mean in the context of a (currently) digital city? We are not sure about writing a compendium of the services such a community would need, but we are sure they would long for a cinema hall.

Not just movies, we mean a real cinema; a place you go and watch movies together. Even better, where you can discuss and meet new friends.

Clearly we can't have a cinema without movies, we can't have movies without directors, we can't have directors without a community.

So we thought we could bootstrap it with a Dogelon City movie: to set a bar, to attract artists, to hype community.

Since it would have been hypocritical to manage it differently, this thing has been treated as a standard piece of software.

Yes, it means it's made of tiny tiny parts. Yes, it means it's an alpha and will change in time. Yes, it means you will have to pay for each new version. Yes, it means you paying for it or not is entirely dependent on you.

Did you just say there is a Dogelon movie in a virtual cinema?

For the foreseeable future we think a digital equivalent of something like this will be okay:

So, to sum it up how has it been set it up:

  • movies are private YouTube videos;
  • each movie has its own NFTs collection;
  • NFTs represent tickets; as customary for tickets, you need to show them to the usher, who rips them for you;
  • screenings will be YouTube premieres or livestreams;
  • voice chat rooms will be opened for the ones willing to enjoy hearing screams during horror movies.

Since the hall is intended to be comfy, it can host a maximum of 25 people per screening.

As already mentioned above, today's movie is called 𝙊𝙙𝙜𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙣 and it is a 55-mins machinima in three parts. Author says we don't really need to tell you the plot: "let your mind fix the gap".
