DOPEWARS is unique in many respects. Its creation, the underlying philosophy, structure and more – Notably the wideness of its attraction (street culture meets high end Web3 tech and thought). Crypto Hustle meets Gangster Shuffle. While so many great attributes came together in an exciting way, at the outset, there was no description given to how the community should organise itself to create a great product.
I believe the issue above has been a strength for DOPEWARS up until this time. The lack of historic organisational structure has allowed for a chaotic and creative pool of energy to smash together the super dope and hyper exciting situation we are now in. And let’s be honest, this organic beast has been like the Hulk at times and the Hulk likes to smash. The silver lining has been that the lack of traditional structure and remuneration has meant that we have attracted and worked with a very diverse range of people with passion and talent.
Now to the present we must address this issue.
At the foundation of DOPE DAO is the DOPE Token, the Treasury and the Smart Contract that binds the two together in immutable harmony. This foundation establishes the Decentralised and Autonomous nature of DOPE DAO. Now we have a codified Purpose of DOPE DAO within the Operating Agreement that binds us to our mission; To create an open forum, equal opportunity builder’s environment for Members to develop and create part of the DOPEWARS Metaverse Community. There are many competing ideas about where and how the DAO will proceed. In truth no one knows exactly where we will go. The reality is that the DAO will go wherever the DOPE flows. This is part of what makes it such an exciting and unique project.
Much of DOPEWARS success has relied upon herculean efforts from the community. From the DOPEFATHER down dreaming up this crazy shizzle, giga brain contributors, major financial players, loyal soldiers of the DOPEWARS community including some who lay sacrificed at the altar of frustration. I ain’t gunna lie, this DAO bizzo is difficult. We have had great success collaborating with the wider Web 3 community, networking with other projects and most notably receiving the recent grant from Optimism.
We have come this far with passion but from hereon there are certain realities we must accept. There is a requirement for an element of organisation and strategy. We have many BAU tasks that require human labour. We have embraced the chaos for long enough and the time has come to organise so as to better reap the rewards of our hustle. In order to achieve this I propose we establish DOPELABS to help define the roles required, outline tasks that need to be completed as routine, and decide upon suitable remuneration for those Members willing and able to perform them.
As a registered Not for Profit LLC we will have record keeping responsibilities, accounting obligations and legal constraints that need to be considered. We can see the wisdom of effective architectural oversight to ensure essential Tech integration while this ecosystem is being mashed together. We can see the obvious benefits of Community Engagement, DOPE updates, DOPE News, promotions, and collaborations with other projects. In the future we will find tools to help us with certain problems; like having DAO owned Communications Platforms, but for now members must hold accounts. Members must take minutes, Members must account for treasury revenue/expenditure and the list goes on.
I propose we vote in 6 month blocks to fill DOPELABS with Members. As per the Operating Agreement, DOPELABS (CORE UNIT) Members would have no guarantee of their position beyond the 6 month vote and any efforts and IP would belong to the DAO. I envisage that DOPELABS would evolve over time. In this proposal you will notice names are established in positions already because we have grown organically. As we progress new members will step up to contribute to our Member Managed DAO. So perhaps there will be the requirement for preliminary voting etc. in the future. Of course we have solved the issue of creating a $Paper cache for the DAO with the mint and burn proposal, so DOPELABS and DOPEWARS success would be fueled by $Paper.

It is time for DOPEWARS to shine like the crazy diamond it is. The creation of DOPELABS will be a step toward generating a DAO Structure with a more resilient network. Our Member Managed DAO will have a means to legitimately and democratically elect Members who are willing and capable to perform the necessary functions of the DAO. Doing so will not hinder the core value of DOPE DAO. Instead, it will be a large leap toward creating the platform to enable this vision. An act to ensure we can propel this project into the future and join the other projects that will make it through this current atmosphere and into the Metaverse.
