DIP-20: Dope Podcast, Season 1

Summary

This proposal concerns the production of a season of a Dope Podcast. Something on the order of 12 episodes would be produced which, through one-on-one core contributor interviews, tell the origin story of our community. I’d like to focus on DOPE, the DAO, how we got to today, and where we might go in the future.

Background

With so many amazing Dope projects nearing delivery, timing is great to begin working on storytelling. Podcasts are one of the best formats we have to tell stories and the genesis of this community is one of web3’s best, and most slept on, stories.

Deliverables

• A 12-episode season of a Dope Podcast
• Each episode is an interview with core contributors to the project, including Dennison, Tarrence, Faces, Shecky, MrFax with TBD slots for major releases / announcements / community suggestions
• Reports on statistics on podcast performance and any ad performance
• Weekly episodes for 3 months, depending on the number of interested interviewees

Goals

• Create and promote an audible history of the origins of this project and community
• Leverage in-app podcast networks to advertise this season
• Introduce thousands of new people to Dope Wars
• Assess whether an ongoing podcast is a worthwhile enterprise

About Me

I’m Michael Boyle, @mboyle in Discord and on Twitter. I’ve been with this project from the jump, contributed to the original Dope NFT contract, and have been paying attention daily as the community has evolved. It’s been thrilling to witness. I’m an entrepreneur with deep background in technology, products, and communities. A few years ago I produced a casual podcast with a business partner you can find here.

My multidisciplinary background, hands-on experience of building in web3 here and in other DAOs, and vantage point of having participated since Dennison’s original tweet make me a great candidate to interview core contributors and help them tell the extraordinary story of what’s going on here.

Total proposed cost

3.5 ETH, with a followup proposal for a marketing budget to advertise the podcast in Overcast, Google Podcasts, etc.
