ImmutableLawyer recommends transitioning dYdX’s governance forum from Commonwealth to Discourse for the following reasons:
Community participation (and increasing community participation) is essential in progressively decentralizing any DeFi protocol within our industry;
Commonwealth has failed to attract the desired community participation needed to progressively decentralize the dYdX Ecosystem as highlighted in the aforementioned discussion (examples can be found in the discussion linked above);
Discourse would provide the dYdX Community with a seamless UI experience for discussing prospective governance proposals at the forum stage of the governance process (a vector that, alone, could lead to increased participation);
Discourse would remove the need of having to link a wallet to participate in a discussion at the forum stage of the governance process;
Discourse has a myriad of plugins that could be leveraged so as to provide the community with a better forum to discuss and debate certain topics. As highlighted in the aforementioned discussion by fellow community member @ARIA, discourse has a translator plugin which would facilitate forum discussion on a global scale;
Discourse has been tried and tested by various well-established communities within the industry and has proven to be the ideal option for a governance forum platform.
Establish a dedicated dYdX Discourse forum:
Yes: Start using Discourse as dYdX’s governance forum. No: Keep using Commonwealth as dYdX’s governance forum.
