Focus Topic for Eden Town Hall #68 (January 15th, Eden Fractal Period 132)

Voting ended 2 months agoSucceeded

Context

This is stage 2 of Synchronous Respect Trees game, which is meant to help us determine priority of topics in our discussions and focus our contributions in Respect game.

How to Play

Vote on the following topics to help determine our discussion topics for the upcoming town hall. You can spread your Respect-weighted votes among multiple topics.

Topics

ORDAO / OREC Documentation as Critical DAO Infrastructure

Topic Proposal Author: Timothy

Problem ORDAO and OREC are core governance infrastructure, but their current documentation does not enable independent deployment, understanding, or forking by the DAO. Critical architectural and design context remains centralized, which undermines autonomy and creates coordination friction.

Why This Matters A DAO cannot meaningfully own or govern infrastructure it cannot independently understand or reproduce. Without task-oriented, navigable documentation, forkability remains conceptual rather than practical.

Proposed Outcome Prioritize the creation of open-source-grade documentation for ORDAO / OREC that:

  • enables independent deployment,
  • documents architecture, invariants, and upgrade paths,
  • and makes forkability practical rather than aspirational.

Scope This topic concerns documentation standards, structure, and ownership — not changes to protocol behavior or authority.

Success Criteria

  • A clear documentation index (“Start Here”)
  • Deployment and forking guides
  • Architecture and design intent docs
  • Contribution guidelines

Establish Documentation & Forkability as a 2026 Priority

Topic Proposal Author: Timothy

Summary:
Formally recognize documentation and practical forkability as first-class priorities for Eden Fractal in 2026, necessary for DAO autonomy, continuity, and experimentation.

Rationale:
Without clear, navigable documentation and reproducible deployment paths, critical infrastructure remains difficult to own, audit, or extend. Forkability must be supported not just conceptually, but operationally.

Desired Outcome:

  • Shared agreement that documentation and forkability are core infrastructure, not optional improvements
  • Alignment of contributor effort and incentives around this goal

Eden Fractal Request for Proposals (RFP) Program

Topic Proposal Author: Timothy

Summary:
Create a formal RFP process with respect bounties to incentivize contributions that improve transparency, documentation, historical continuity, and forkability.

Rationale:
Many high-value tasks are well-defined but labor-intensive. An RFP structure allows the DAO to clearly articulate needs and reward contributors for completing them.

Proposed RFP Areas (Examples):

  • Historical Documentation

    • Condense hundreds of hours of recorded meetings into a concise, navigable historical account
    • Document major decisions, inflection points, and shifts in design philosophy
  • Fractal Project Registry

    • Create and maintain a clear registry of Eden Fractal-aligned projects and communities
    • Include status, lineage, and points of contact where applicable
  • Governance & Token Analytics

    • Publish analytics on respect token distribution, mint rates, and participation
    • Improve legibility of governance signal and activity over time
  • Fractal / ORDAO Launcher

    • Design and implement tooling to support independent ORDAO deployments
    • Lower the barrier to experimentation and forking
  • ORDAO Contract Audit

    • Commission a security review focused on forkability and upgrade safety
    • Ensure the protocol is safe to replicate and extend

Desired Outcome:

  • Clear scopes for high-impact work
  • Transparent incentives for contributors
  • Measurable progress toward DAO autonomy

📚 Pass a proposal for biweekly structure

Topic Proposal Author: Tadas

We ended last season deciding to pause Optimism Fractal and started considering how to use space left for Eden Fractal. We also wanted to get more discussion time in Eden Fractal (topics from last meeting).

Setting clear rhythm for the season will set a tone for the whole season. I think it should be the first thing we do. Any topic or issue prioritization mechanism we use (e.g.: synchronous respect trees) depends on it.

We could pass this biweekly structure: https://hackmd.io/@sim31/ef-bweek-str It ensures there's ample space for contributions to the fractal as it is (consolidating what we already have) as well as consensus building.

But this topic could also be used for passing some other biweekly or weekly schedule.

We could also use this for talking about the next version of SRT which I'm currently drafting.

🌳 Welcome to Eden Fractal Season 12

Topic Proposal Author: Dan

Welcome back! After an extended winter break, Eden Fractal returns for Season 12 with renewed energy and focus. This topic creates space for our community to reconnect—share what you've been up to over the holidays, catch up with fellow community members, and ease back into our collaborative rhythm.

This topic would provide a casual time for sharing any quick updates (outside of contributions you’ll share in the Respect Game) or questions that are relevant to Eden Fractal. I can also provide a brief overview of recent developments in the fractal ecosystem—just enough to orient everyone and spark conversation.

📖 Eden Fractal 2026 Resolutions

Topic Proposal Author: Dan

As we embark on a new year and a new season, it’s worth taking some time to align on what we hope to accomplish. Eden Fractal is almost four years old, and while we've made tremendous progress in developing fractal governance tools and processes, our core mission of implementing fractal decision-making throughout society remains a work in progress.

The new year brings new opportunities—blockchain and AI technologies are evolving rapidly, and Eden Fractal is positioned to play an increasingly important role in improving collective decision-making for communities everywhere. This topic invites participants to share thoughts on what we should prioritize this year, consider seting explicit community goals or "New Year's resolutions," and how we can support each other in spreading fractal democracy more broadly.

This topic is intentionally open-ended. It's about setting intentions together as we navigate the year ahead. Of course, we can also discuss this topic in the coming weeks and months as well. I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts and collaborating to grow fractals in 2026!

📚 Update our ORDAO configuration

Topic Proposal Author: Tadas

Current configuration of Eden Fractal's ORDAO was meant to be temporary to allow old participants to claim their old respect before any contentious ORDAO proposals are executed. Current configuration is also becoming too limiting when we start passing more proposals per week.

I propose to make the these configuration changes: https://hackmd.io/@sim31/ef-ordao-config-update
