Contribution Requests (Period 135)

Voting ended 26 days agoSucceeded

This is a poll to determine priority of contribution requests at the time of period 134 of Eden Fractal. It is part of stage 2 of Synchronous Respect Tree V1 game.

Spread your respect-weighted votes among contribution requests according to your understanding of what contributions are the most needed right now. This will help contributors determine what to work on and inform ranking of contributors in respect game.

Note

Snapshot only allows me to create 9 choices in the poll and there were 10 contribution requests proposed, so I am removing the request about technical development in the voting options since there are already a couple other requests about technical development (and I was the creator of this request).

From Tadas

CR: Firmament

Firmament is an old project idea that has been floating around in Eden Fractal since last epoch.

My perspectives around how to achieve what I intended with Firmament, has changed dramatically, since I last talked about them in Eden Fractal.

The new project idea is much more simple and easier to deliver and could give Eden Fractal the following benefits:

⦁ Systematic way to integrate many different consensus building tools and select them from meeting to meeting ⦁ Would create a a space for different fractal app developers; ⦁ Would allow for different implementations of fractalgram (for example) to be tested; ⦁ A system to track and version governance documents effectively; ⦁ It would unite what we are currently calling legislative and executive branches into a single chain (human speed chain - 1 period - 1-2 blocks) secured by both old and new Eden Fractal Respect; ⦁ A way to market in a way that might be attractive to crypto people: concept of mining from a your laptop viable again; ⦁ A systematic way to integrate AI agents into our processes, without losing control;

I don't think that's all...

In general I think it can start the next generation of DAOs, which natively work at the level of abstraction fully understandable to all, not just smart contract developers. This development would be very aligned with where the whole tech world is going thanks to LLMs.

CR: Non-profit for fractal ecosystem

A non profit could help Eden Fractal by accepting donations and distributing funds to contributors. It is also part of a broader vision of creating a sustainable ecosystem for fractals. It is also part of the vision I expressed here: https://hackmd.io/@sim31/ef-vision-p132

CR: Quicker uploads of meeting videos

From what I've observed meeting recordings uploaded to EdenCreators lag by about 1 week or more.

More immediate availability of recordings would have the benefit that people who weren't able to participate could catch up immediately (say the next day).

In general, community could stay more in-sync even if not everyone is participating in meetings.

This would also be useful for people who were in the meeting and want to reference something that was discussed / said in the meeting, in the chats after the meeting.

This would also help secure state transitions of Eden Fractal. E.g.: in ORDAO it normally takes 6 days for respect distribution proposal to pass after the respect game event. A recording is one of the pieces of evidence respect-holders can use to verify respect distribution proposals to make an informed vote.

Maybe livestream would be an option and an easy way to avoid production overhead?

CR: Fractalgram

Fractalgram is core component of Eden Fractal and many other fractals, however the current implementations have a lot of room for improvement.

The old fractalgram is fixed but it is far from being the app we want to introduce newcomers to.

We've already started discussing design of new fractalgram app: ⦁ Fractalgram Design Principles. Part 1; ⦁ Discussion in Eden Town Hall ⦁ Discussion on related designs in Medium (see comments) ⦁ Discussion on the process to develop fractalgram / spec-driven development

CR: Solve denial of respect distribution

This is a technical issue that requires some development work in ORDAO.

All the details here: https://github.com/sim31/ordao/issues/27 .

CR: Educational Resource Development and Documentation

Eden Fractal needs better educational resources to help people understand what we're doing and how they can benefit from participating. Contributions can include writing articles and blog posts about fractal governance, developing FAQ resources, improving our website content, creating technical documentation and specifications, exploring AI-powered workflows for content creation, and producing video content. Resources about Eden Fractal's implementation are highest priority, but educational content about fractal governance broadly also supports our mission.

CR: Technical Development for Fractal Governance Tools

Eden Fractal relies on several core technical tools and welcomes contributions to their development. Priority areas include Fractalgram (the Respect Game interface), ORDAO (onchain governance infrastructure), the Eden+Fractal consensus process, and related tools or processes used by Eden Fractal. With AI-assisted development tools making it easier than ever to build applications, this is an exciting time to contribute—whether through direct improvements to our production tools or experimental applications that explore new approaches to fractal coordination.

CR: Community Engagement and Contributor Outreach

Eden Fractal thrives through active community engagement, and we're seeking contributions that help grow and strengthen our community. Quality matters more than quantity—inviting one highly engaged contributor often creates more value than attracting many passive observers. Contributions include inviting strong-fit people to join events, welcoming and onboarding new participants, building relationships with collaborators in adjacent spaces, and nurturing connections with potential future contributors.

CR: Research into Fractal Decision-Making Processes

Eden Fractal's mission includes collaborative research to advance our understanding of how communities can coordinate more effectively. Research can include studying how fractal governance works in practice, interviewing experienced practitioners, exploring how other communities implement similar processes, investigating novel coordination mechanisms, and engaging deeply with existing literature and theory. Both newcomers with fresh perspectives and experienced practitioners who can identify the most impactful areas for investigation are welcome to contribute.

CR: Eden Fractal Intent Document

Eden Fractal needs an Intent Document — envisioned as an operating manual that defines how the Respect Game functions, how governance processes work, and how decisions are made. Following the model established by Optimism Fractal's Intent Document, this document would provide a clear reference for both current and future participants. Contributions can include researching what should be in scope, drafting sections based on our current operations, reviewing how other fractal communities have structured their intents, and helping organize the document for community review and approval through our consensus process.

CR: Eden Fractal Community Agreement

Eden Fractal needs a community agreement that establishes clear expectations and protections for participants. This has been an outstanding goal since our early days and is becoming increasingly important as we prepare to scale our processes.

Contributions can include researching prior agreement discussions and materials from Eden Fractal, Genesis Fractal, and related communities; drafting agreement terms covering video consent, governance participation, content rights, and the nature of Respect as an opinion token; exploring integration with tools like Hats Protocol for onchain agreement signing and role-based access; and helping to organize and curate all existing resources about this topic into one accessible place.

I'm currently working on resources to make coordination easier, and contributions to this effort are very welcome. You can see some of our prior discussions about agreements at EdenCreators.com/agreement.
