At the moment landowners who have listed Decentraland land for rent on LandWorks cannot use the voting power (VP) associated with that land within the Decentraland DAO (more information on voting power distribution within Decentraland is found here). The reason the VP cannot be used is due to the fact that it's locked in the LandWorks protocol. Once landlords list their land on LandWorks they effectively transfer the land NFT to the LandWorks protocol. And because the VP is associated with the land NFT, all Decentraland VP sits within the LandWorks protocol.
With the recently enacted proposal within the Decentraland DAO, Decentraland landowners can now keep their VP when listing their properties for rent on the Decentraland Marketplace. This is achieved through a Snapshot strategy.
Because it is now possible to keep the VP with the landlord for Decentraland landlords, we want to enable this for LandWorks landlords as well.
This proposal aims to allow LandWorks landowners to keep their VP when they have listed their land on LandWorks.
Our development team has already created the snapshot strategy based on the enacted proposal. The code is available here. We have already gone through the process of submitting a proposal in the Decentraland DAO to make this possible however it did not pass. The feedback we received from the Decentraland community was that we should make sure EnterDAO’s community is onboard with the action of submitting a proposal to the Decentraland DAO. Therefore, this proposal aims to do just that. Although we believe that having the VP with the landowners is something that will benefit both EnterDAO and the Decentraland DAO, we are determined to make this happen therefore we are acting based on the feedback we received.
Please bear in mind that this proposal (if passed) will not be able to unlock the VP of the LandWorks landlords by itself as this is something that has to be enacted by the Decentraland DAO. This proposal will only enable EnterDAO to resubmit the proposal with the Decentraland DAO.
