The issue - The Overpopulation of Snobbits & Hambrisks
These two Mons were initially meant to onboard new users on Polygon and give them decently strong Mons to start with for free. This got out of hand very fast and the "free" option was heavily abused. In hindsight, there were definitely better ways these Mons could have been released, but hindsight is 20/20 and we need to decide the best way to move forward as a community.
Excluding free Mons (Kyari, Omnom, Mintol, Snobbit & Hambrisk), there are approximately 39K on-chain Mons. The current population of Snobbits & Hambrisks is over 217K. This is obviously not good for the ecosystem, the collectability of Mons, value protection, etc.
The solution - They need to be PURGED, but in a way that is fair for those that have spent many many hours playing with them, purchased them, and used them in the intended way.
I say "purged" but that does not entirely mean deleted. We have a few options currently which are listed below.
Note - currently, in each of the options - 100% of Snobbits & Hambrisks will be converted into wheel spin tickets. They will remain as part of the collection, but the image will change to a ticket and they will not be playable in either 2D or 3D. The wheel will be adjusted/improved in tandem.
Option A: All Snobbits & Hambrisks will be considered retired immediately. The ancestor for Snowler (Snobbit) will be changed. No evolutions of either Snobbit or Hambrisk will ever be released.
Option B: All Snobbits & Hambrisks will be considered retired immediately. The ancestor for Snowler (Snobbit) will be changed. An airdrop will occur to automatically give the evolved forms (Frosslord & Chinchype) to those that have played with them the most in both 2D and 3D, up to a certain cap. 2D would be based on highest EXP, 3D would be based on most battles won. 500 total will be airdropped.
Option C: All Snobbits & Hambrisks will be considered retired 30 days after the end of voting. Immediately after the vote concludes (assuming this option is passed), transforms for Snobbits & Hambrisks will be turned ON. Players can transform the Mons themselves on a first come first serve basis, up to a cap (500), until the time limit is up. Transform level will be set to 60.
Option D: All Snobbits & Hambrisks will be considered retired 30 days after the end of voting. Immediately after the vote concludes (assuming this option is passed), transforms for Snobbits & Hambrisks will be turned ON. Players can transform the Mons themselves on a first come first serve basis, up to a cap. Transform level will be set to 60.
In addition, an airdrop will occur to automatically give the evolved forms (Frosslord & Chinchype) to those that played with them the most in 3D and have ancestors at the time of the airdrop, up to a cap.
Note - if Option B or D is passed we will hold an additional discussion and/or 48 hour DAO vote regarding the split of the caps for 2D & 3D.
