LIP-30: Community Takeover & DAO Rebuild

Voting ended 5 months agoSucceeded

Author: @paolofarmermaster

Abstract

Following GIP-1 and GIP-2, Lizard Labs has been dissolved and no operational team remains. This proposal launches a community-led transition, transferring all control — treasury, socials, partnerships, and IP — under a new DAO Council elected by holders.

Motivation

Without an active team, DAO assets risk stagnation. This LIP ensures transparency, coordination, and control by the community, giving $LIZ and Ethlizards a real chance to rebuild under fair, decentralized governance.

Core Points

1: Transition of Control

Transfer all DAO-related assets and infrastructure: • Portfolio Sub-DAO treasury (~20 ETH) • Blur & partner funds • Official Discord, website, and X account • Partnerships & communications • Any Lizard Labs products or IP

2: Oversight & Transparency

All dev, web, or operational expenses must be pre-approved by the DAO Council.

The previous team will cooperate, if needed, to provide any remaining access credentials or technical information.

No new payments or contracts without DAO approval.

3: DAO Council

Composed of 5 unpaid community members, elected by holders.

Members serve voluntarily — no compensation or financial incentives.

Term duration: 6 months, renewable by DAO vote.

Council member removal:

The community can remove or replace a member through a LIP vote (existing mechanism).

Additionally, the Council may internally vote (4/5 majority) to remove a member who is inactive or not fulfilling their duties.

Undoxxed members are allowed to serve in the council, but only doxxed members can access multi-sig for security reasons.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage funds and communications
  • Approve expenses and oversee partnerships
  • Propose future plans and publish transparency reports
  • A separate Snapshot vote (LIP-31) will be held following LIP-30 approval to elect Council members.

4: Next Steps

Hold LIP-31 election for Council seats.

Publish monthly transparency reports.

Prepare a follow-up LIP defining long-term governance and roadmap.

Please note that there is a timeline overlap with GIP-1 and GIP-2 activities. While the proposals are not in direct conflict, they do have overlapping timelines and permissions - thus operationally, just consider that the Gaming Sub-DAO and GIP-1 and GIP-2 items must be fully closed and transitioned for this LIP-30 to take full effect.

Vote Options
