Free DAO Supports Art4Giving and Ceases its Operations

TL;DR

Per the Ulbricht family’s wishes, the Free DAO will cease its operations entirely. Amidst concerns that the DAO’s existence is not helpful to Ross’s clemency efforts and can even harm his clemency, the family has asked that the DAO ends its operations. Because Ross’s life is at stake, the Free DAO’s mission has always been to support Ross’s family and respect their wishes. Ross’s family believes Art4Giving would make a valuable use of the remaining funds by donating it to charity on behalf of Ross. The Art4Giving charitable fund was established by the Ulbricht family to support prisoners and their families during and after incarceration, as well as support harm reduction.

The Free DAO will allocate $141,000 to be remitted to FreeOpsDAO for payment of outstanding obligations. The core team will transfer to the Free DAO the DAO’s website, social media accounts, Discord server, and all other accounts and assets associated with the DAO. The remaining treasury funds (around $570,000) will be donated to Art4Giving.

Description

• Free DAO will reserve $141,000 to be paid to FreeOpsDAO.eth for outstanding obligations related to proposals 9, 12, 13, and 14.

• The core team under FreeOpsDAO will assist with the transfer of control to the Multi-signers of the website (freerossdao.org), twitter account (@wearefreeorg), Instagram account, Discord server, and all other accounts and assets associated with the DAO, as well as to pay the total outstanding obligations for proposals 9, 12, 13, 14. The multi-signers will retire the website, social media accounts and discord server and all other accounts associated with the DAO.

• The remaining funds in the DAO's treasury (around $570,000) will be donated to Art4Giving (https://art4giving.org/), a donor-advised fund with a focus on lowering recidivism and harm reduction.

• FREE token holders will remain owners of their tokens.

• All physical art owned by Free DAO (Human Blockchain Series 1 - Block 5 and 6, What Becomes of the Cages, and Grow in the Dark) will be transferred to the Ulbricht family for preservation and safekeeping.

• All NFTs owned by Free DAO will be transferred to a fractional MolochDAO owned vault, with new vault tokens available to be claimed by FREE token holders on a pro-rata basis.

• The Free DAO will cease all operations. Any actions on behalf of the DAO, or Ross Ulbricht or the FreeRoss cause, will be strictly prohibited, including submitting new proposals.

• The Core team, Ops team, Review and Advisory Councils are hereby dissolved. The Multi-signers will be responsible for executing all transfers of assets contemplated in this proposal and for retiring the DAO’s website, social media accounts, discord server and all other accounts associated with the DAO. The Multi-signers will be dissolved once it’s complete.

Fixed Budget & Payout Schedule

$141,000 to FreeOpsDAO for transferring the DAO’s website, social media accounts and discord server and all other accounts associated with the DAO to the multi-signers and for paying outstanding obligations; remaining treasury funds will be donated to Art4Giving.

Sunset Date

October 2, 2253 (the date of end of Ross’s double life sentence).
