Authorization for bid on "Grow in the Dark" - Prop #6

tl;dr

This proposal authorizes a minimum of $500,000 up to $1,000,000 from the treasury to be used to fully acquire “Grow in the Dark” from the Growth Collection, currently up for sale at Bitcoin '22 on Scare.city.

• This authorization only pertains to this auction, and doesn’t carry over to other operational expenses from the treasury.
• This authorization does not require nor imply we must bid the entire $1,000,000.
• This proposal signals the value at which we feel we can afford to extend to this piece, given owning it affords the DAO a great many opportunities to carry out our mission to rehabilitate Ross’s image.

Proposal

This week, we on the core team have seen the personal and emotional impact throughout the week that in particular the “Grow in the Dark” animation has had on those who have come and perceived it. We’ve realized that it as a piece of media presented in the right way has the potential to change perception and minds in a much more compelling way than we had originally anticipated.

As a piece of art that we’d own as a DAO, the core team believes we could create many derivative works that would be useful for presenting Ross’s message to new audiences as well as be a powerful asset we could monetize to renew our treasury above and beyond the (up to $1,000,000) price tag we’d potentially be paying for it.

As we enter the final hours of the auction, therefore, we propose that the DAO authorizes from the treasury $1,000,000 to be available to bid on this work. This authorization does not require nor imply we must bid the entire $1,000,000, only that we are willing to bid up to that amount in the aim to acquire it. This is a limited authorization that is only for this particular auction, and this authorization will expire when the auction itself expires.

This $1,000,000 would be in excess of any donations that have come in under the terms of Governance Proposal #5.
